L99 A6 normal driving RPM range ?

I'm thinking of tweaking my A/C cut in/out someday and this is the reason for the really strange question.

There is no reason to run an A/C compressor at 6000 RPMs, maybe not even at 5000 RPMs, I'd rather have HP at those RPM levels, wouldn't you?

When you are driving around normally, not at WOT, what do you think your normal RPM range is at various conditions and speeds? 1000-4000 RPMs?

Take a look and see where your car is shifting into 2nd, 3rd, & 4th.. And what RPMs you are running on the side roads and the hiway.

I'm trying to find the sweet spot for the A/C as well as improve performance and MPG at the same time.

okay i know what your talking about cause i have a motorhead friend who did that on his z06..

But how much hp gain do you think you will get up there with no AC? and why cant you just turn the AC off when you want to race...?

On a 4th gen it does, I'd imagine it would be close to the same on a 5th. Either at WOT or it already has a RPM cutout.

I can gain something if I forget to shut it off. It's all about the driving experience.

Yes it does, but not at say 95% throttle. This can be programmed.

------------------------------

Anyway by reducing the A/C under more than normal acceleration we can get a few more HP to the wheels and a little better fuel economy.

I just did a road test. Most of the time, even pushing it a little more, the car stays under 3000 RPMs if you are going over that in an A6 your are starting to push it and if you are stating to push it you'd probably want extra HP and won't be on it for too long so you would notice if the A/C shut off because it will still stay cold until you let off the throttle.
