Jalopnik likes it...

Pricing that is. The ever-Camaro-bashing crowd in the peanut gallery @ Jalopnik have officially given a big thumbs up to the Camaro's pricing. Personally, it's right in line with what I expected... i was hoping to spend around $38k w/o performance options for a fully loaded 2SS/RS and that's what I got. It seems some people here are still scratching their heads and aren't satisfied though. I think some of us have lost perspective on the issue since we've been so close to it for so long. The SS is priced WAAAY below it's closest competitors (GT500 & Chally SRT8 = $42k) and how many 300HP monsters can you find for $23K? (answer = 0 as far as I know). When looking at the Camaro's direct and indirect competition the value is UNSURPASSED. Only those that absolutely cannot afford it or are soul-glued to the competition like we are to the Camaro will pass this deal up. I expect when the general public starts comparison shopping the choice will be clear. GM did a great job on a great car and put a cherry on top with great pricing.

Jalopnik's article on the Camaro's pricing.

Surprised!

I find it amazing that so many of you are surprised by the price. Many-many months ago the estimates were from 22K for the V6 to 32K for the V8. The pricing released today is exactly in-line with the estimates. Sure, we all wanted to be able to get a 2SS/RS for less than 32K, but the reality is not far off. The 2SS is an extremely well equipped for a car in the 34K price range, (there are not very many 400HP cars in that range). I'm sure when Ford releases the pricing for the 2010 Mustang; everyone will see what a performance bargain the Camaro truly is.

OR....you could take off the $750 destination charge that's build into that price and round down to 22K :P

no matter how it was priced some would say it was too high... if the V6 was 20K and the V8 was 25K even then some would cry about it...

Most estimates put the base SS under 30K, you can try and said different but most kept saying the base SS would be under 30k

True, but that was before all the options that are standard on the SS were known.
