what does CHP use most...radar or lidar
i am wanting to get a good detector, but only if they still use radar..if all they use is basically lidar than it will be of no use. watchin that "dangerous hwys" on speed today and the cop was sayin he could lidar a car 1000's of feet away...DAMN, no way i would see a cop that far out at night like he was doing...of course some of you will reply with "dont speed", and well... i dont really. but wanting to cover my basis without wasting my $$. if it saves me even 1 ticket, its money well spent!

They do use both but the open roads are usually Lidar, and even with detection you are nailed as they can get your place in the scope and then activate the system. The only protection is to use a shifter which will result in an error code & thus they will know what you have done. It is legal however. The passport 9500 series with a shifter is the way to go, but pricy! IMHO

i run a laser defuser and a radar detector to cover myself on both ends. i have a k40 in one of my rides and just got a blinder extreme unit for the camaro.

yeah i want to get a 9500...but i dont want to spring for the full monty and get the laser part as well. thats big bucks. i'd like to get it, but even that is money wasted if they use lidar most of the time.
