Muffler Delete help
Ok, so im planning on removing my heavy, ugly muffler. I'm kind of new to this so im not sure what to replace them with. I heard replacing the stock resonator with an x pipe when removing the mufflers will make it sound better. Now do i remove the mufflers and replace them with stright pipes then remove the stock resonator and replace it with an x pipe?
im trying to figure out what will sound better (not too raspy or popping) without replacing the stock mufflers with aftermarker mufflers. thanks. |

In my honest opinion any type of muffler delete will soundy raspy. An X-pipe will definetly help, but it still will have almost a whinning sound.
I'm guessing your going for a louder tone. try looking at a MRT v1 or a SLP Loudmouth 1 or 2 I wouldn't reccomend a X pipe at all |

The resonator on the LLT motor is really not very big. I'd suggest tryin the muff delete alone first, and if it's not loud enough for you, then try an X-pipe.

Also an SLP LM 1 is simply a muffler delete... so yes, muffler delete, resonator delete, x-pipe = extreme rasp...

I replaced my "H" pipe with the Magnaflow resinated "X" pipe, which is like a muffler, and it eliminated the rasp and the in cabin drone. Then you could try no mufflers and see how that sounds, but if it's too loud, add some mufflers of your choice. I went with Flowmaster Amarican Thunder axle back kit, and combined with the Injen CAI it sounds great.

If your trying to make it sound like a V8.... We'll it's not going to happen.
Anything close to a straight pipe almost makes it sound like a dying cat. If your going for a deeper tone then MRT V.2 is IMO the best choice... Hear scrming car ![]() If you don't mind raspiness I really like the MRT V.1 try to do that and later High flow Cats and maybe headers. To me an exhaust alone won't help the V6 much.. Just a Thought

I'd get the Pypes cat back if I were you. It's a full 2.5" system and the pipes are stainless steel, and it only costs $325. I currently have a Gibson axel back and paid $425. I want to go full 2.5" and I think the Pypes cat back is the cheapest way to achieve that other than picking up a V-8 Camaro stock exhaust that was pulled from someones car who upgraded to a catback.

![]() Yes, putting a SS Catback on the V6 is the cheapest and easiest way to get some better sound from your V6 car. Seen it in person and it's a sweet little upgrade if you got a SS friend local to you! We also put a Cherry Bomb Catback on a V6 recently. I was surprised at the sound it put out from such an inexpensive system as well. Nicely built as well. The last most economical option is the DT Catback. There are a couple locals with them and they definitely changed the way it sounded from the stock sound. You should be seeing your Shorties by Friday since you are so close!! Let us know how they work out for you. Ivan
