Autocross surprise - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Been autocrossing a year or so with my covette club in my 96LT4 Z51 vette. So like any new camaro owner, with his wife out of town I took her new 2SS/RS to the track with my vette.

What a surprise that the first time I was out with the camaro I ran faster than I do in the vette. I was actually not pushing it that hard as it only had 550 miles or so and I didn't want any cone rash on it for the wife to see. I was finally able to turn faster times in the vette but I was working a lot harder. I can't wait till I get the camaro broken in so I can see what it will do. I was so impressed on how easy it was to drive,when you look at the video it seems slower but that's because its so much smoother.

All of the club members were impressed as it was faster than several of the vettes there. Not to mention that I was crazy enough to bring a new car to the autocross.

Anyway don't be afraid to autocross these cars as they will do great.

We just started and are hooked. Working budget for all that goes with it.

i have raced my Camaro 2 complete seasons in SCCA street mod class - I now have 3000 miles on the car.

I had a battle this year - had 3 AWD cars and 1 FWD car in my class, finished 2nd place overall for the season.

Good job, that's good that your car can keep up and defeat the Evos and STis even in autocross. What does your car weigh now?
