Chrysler = Sandbaggers! There's no way that engine is producing what Chrysler rates it! It's got much more!

If I was in the market for a sedan, that'd be the one I'd buy. It's one sexy sedan. But that thing is putting down numbers higher than the automatic transmission Camaro!

I think your mentioning the wrong thing,....it's not that it puts down more than the L99, I think what we should be saying is it's putting down nearly the same hp as an LS3.

Be that as it may, the performance test for the car aren't stellar at all, and it's weight shows. 4410lbs.

Road and Track test shows......

Quote:
Despite the mass, the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 found in the R/T trim, rated at 370 bhp and 395 lb.-ft. of torque, propels the Charger to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.7, beating the V-6 Mustang. It’s also quicker than the Challenger R/T, thanks to better tires.
Edmund's tested the Charger R/T also ......

0-60: 5.4 seconds
1/4: 13.7@102.8mph

Despite the hp numbers,....... it's still no match for an SS. Let the war begin...........

i didnt want to post it because people here might think its a lil too anti-gm but their charger r/t dyno shows more more power at all rpm points till they hit the speed limited than the LS3 they dynoed.

4410lbs?!?!?! daaaaaaaaaang,thats a shame :(

What war? The charger isn't aimed at beating the camaro ,but I'll bet you a million bucks it buries the Impala which is Chevy's large 4 door sedan.
Those are very impressive #'s for this type of car.

I think they have a bit more than 13.7 in them (I am only talking a few 10ths) and agree the SS should be quicker than the R/T Charger, but I think the point is how it compares to other lux vehicles like the Mercedes E550, BMW 5 series, Lexus GS/LS, Hyundai Genesis where you are their performance of better for 1/2 the price. I know people will say it is not competitive to these cars, but quite a few mags have compared it to the 5 series, especially in handling and perfroamnce.

i think inside line's numbers are a little generous. there have been other dynos with the 2011 charger r/t and they are putting down about 325-330rwhp. there have been a bunch of 09-10 challenger r/t's with the same engine putting down 330-335rwhp on dyno jets over the last couple years. this is all stock of course.

what i dont understand is how they got 360rwhp with the charger, but got 335rwhp in 09 when they put the then new, challenger r/t on the same dyno. the charger is supposed to be a few ponies less than the challengers. not only that, but the challenger was a manual and this charger is an auto! something isnt right.

is it possible they entered the wrong criteria for the car into the dyno? like wheel diameter and such?

I do agree here. I do know this Particular model is rated at the same HP as an auto R/T (372 I think), from the black grill it has the Road and track package which is a different intake/pcm for the engine (omong other things like 3.06 gears from the challenger, performance suspension, etx).

ahh ok, i was unaware of a road and track package...is this like the mopar 10 package for the challenger? i know that bumps the power up marginally over a regular R/T and R/T Classic.

i'm pretty clueless when it comes to the trim and specs on the Charger.
