Clutch engagement

Hi guys. Don't flame me for starting another clutch thread but...... Can anyone who has a perfectly operational M6 please chime in on where your engagement starts. And also if it is constantly there. My clutch when cold engages low, then when warm is in the top 10%. During regular driving it is highly inconsistent. It just seems to dump when are trying to ease it out. I would also add that most of my pedal travel does absolutely nothing, just a leg work out. Other than that...I love this car!

Mine is always about halfway up. If you release it really slowly, you can feel the pedal pushing up. right as it starts to push up, is when it engages.

At least for me.

I would say mine is alittle less then half. I never had any problems yet and I do drag the the car ,but I also change the fluid after a night at the drags to avoid the problem. I found out the hard way in our vette that we autocross. On the other hand the shifter is not the smoothest ,but it isn't in the vette either so I guess that's normal.

Always at the top of travel. Only need to go down an inch to shift gears. Been like that from day one. It is different from mechanical linkage in the sixties and seventies for sure. Would like to adjust it to start engaging an inch from the floor but you get used to it. 13000 miles now.

i'll agree with you that sometimes I feel like mine engages in different spots depending on the gear or whether i'm going from a stop or not, could just be my mind playin tricks on me, but sometimes i'll feel like im doin the same thing as always and it'll have a different engagin point

These fully hydraulically actuated systems can vary depending entirely on fluid pressure. Things like temperature, humidity, and whether you have air in the lines can greatly effect the system. Only real setback for me for the hydraulic system is that it's not as dead on accurate like my old cable setup on my old car. I knew the exact engagement point on it and it was the exact same every time. Although these hydraulic systems are much easier to use overall once you get used to it. Although it doesn't seem to have as much physical feedback that the old mechanical systems had. I personally do like the fully hydraulic system the Camaro uses though over the old mechanical linkages older cars used. If it's been services PROPERLY it's an awesome system which should have a much longer lifespan than the older systems so long as you keep up on the fluid and PROPERLY BLEED the system. Many problems that people have had lately with all hydraulic clutches can usually be backtracked to bad servicing.

Thanks guys for the info... I have my dealer swapping out the re-bleeding the system tomorrow, and possibly replacing the slave. Im just happy I got them to do anything! I guess from now on Im just going to live with it!(If thats the way its supposed to be) At least I have my CAI intake coming tomorrow!!

Mine works exactly this way. I can feel the clutch engaging thru the pedal and thru my foot. And I know exactly when it engages. (For I am one with my machine...) Then I stomp on the gas. (please, for maximum enjoyment only). to achieve max. ludicrous cruising speed. (space balls) lol. Damn, these thing are fast!
