Allocations

I've been trying to order for a week now, My dealer was only allocated one camaro. I was second on the list and now, waiting on GM to pick up the order ? What determines the amount allocated to each dealership ? Ive herd some getting thirty down to one per dealer. Does it have anything to do with the Custmer Service of the dealership or the amount of sales ?

I not sure were the thread is that covered this but it was stated that they used an algorhythm (a big calcualtion) to determine what each dealers allocation would be, the variables they used were current Mustang sales in that area, the particular dealers '02 camaro sales, and I believe current Corvette sales (but that might just be my imagination).

Not sure what is going to get settled .. I don't think your dealership can change it's allocation .. any other dealerships in your area? Check around ..

If he only gets one allocation can they order another one if they have the down payment for the second car ? or is it just one car for that dealer period ?

Allocations are based off of your dealers total vehicle sales for past 12 months ending August 2008, and Mustang registrations in your dealers area for past 12 months ending June 2008. That was in the delaers workbook....

I think GM has left it open that they could add to dealers allocations, but everything under the sun would have to go smoother than anyone imagined. Or so I would think.

If you want to be in first allocation, I'd find another dealer. Thats just me though...

This allocation deal is not new. We went thru this in 77 for the 78 Anniversary Corvette and Pace Cars. Dealers will start to trade their allocations like tickets to a Beatles Reunion. Back then they were adding $10,000 to a car that retailed at $16,000 and some fools paid it. Some paid 32 for a car stickerd at 16. By May 78 it was all over but the crying.

Their allocation is an ESTIMATION of the amount of cars they will get for the 1st 6 months. GM has said that a dealers allocation during this time frame may increase after production has ramped up and if it does don't expect to find out until summer.

It's my understanding that a dealer can only place orders up to their allocation. If that's correct then if your dealer already has an order for his 1, then even though he may have the deposit for the 2nd one and have the order form filled out, he can't place it with GM until either his allocation is increased or until his 2nd allocation in Sept.
