It generally takes me the most direct route. Never had a problem with it.

You can also plan your route with mapquest, then do "send to onstar" and login.

Your mapquest route will go to your vehicle. Then do the phone button and say "virtual adviser". It will say something like, "I see you have a new destination called whateveryounamedit. Would you like directions there?"

It works very well.

In South Georgia most gps systems suck wind. A road that has been in use for over ten years dose not even show on the gps and a road that has been closed for over twenty years is still on the route.

It will recalculate but not automatically. If you stray off course the display will ask you if you want to recalculate or cancel. This will display on the on the Infotainment screen and just highlight your choice and enter.

It will ask if you want to reroute when you make a turn other than it expects. I love it. I would rather pay the $100 per year for it instead of having a gps mounted to my windshield. Also the fact that a decent gps costs between $150 - $200 and for me they never last more than 2 years plus you need to buy map updates, onlt to have it break down later.

I used it once during the 30 day or so trial, and it worked really well. I would have used it more, if they would have let you use it for the whole year along with the reat of the trial....Even a payperuse would be a good idea.

You better have a good idea of where your going and not trust a gps system in South Georgia. Another example was when I was going to the Camarofest, I told the on star lady South Georgia motorsports park. And they had no clue where that was.

If you want a specific route just call Onstar and the adviser can set it up that way. I used it last weekend on a trip. I was in an unincorporated area and they found me an easy route to the interstate.

You do get it for a year, not just 30 days ...
