I knew a family who had an autistic son who would pick words out of books to tell you what he wanted. Its amazing how we "normal" people are so quick to dismiss people with handicaps before we actually know the real person hiding inside.

I'm pretty sure autism is a communication disorder, but they are extremely intelligent.

what a truely touching and inspiring story. I wish I would have seen something like this back a couple of years when I was a paraprofessional assistant for a 6 year old boy named Mason who was diagnosed high spectrum autistic. But after seeing this video I can better understand his fits of hitting, screaming, biting and running. I truely loved Mason, he touched my life in a way no other has. I hope that one day he can find the same communication and understanding as Carly has.

Thankyou for sharing this! I know many other families I will be sending this video to.

There was a show on TV about a girl with that who had this fascination with spoons and running water. Which almost seem like a metaphor of her problem.
She also couldn't communicate normal but was smart as hell with help but it seemed so much like her own personal clue to the problem.

The information node for what we call normal communication was like a spoon, and the info sent to do that, flowed like water out of a faucet and just over flows the spoon not letting her proper thoughts out.

There has been no proof except circumstantial evidence and a blonde named jenny that link autism and vaccines. The one report that came out and said there was has been refuted and the scientist behind it lost his license.

This is probably the most worthless post ever made. Seriously, posting only a emoticon of some kind would have been more productive and more factual.

Not only is the first part of your post wrong (evidence already provided by the poster above me), but the entire point of the original post was to show that autistic children are not dumb, just different. Carly is writing a novel at the moment, which is a massive achievement for somebody her age, autistic or not.

Honestly, I seriously hope you were trying to be funny and just came across wrong, because otherwise you really need to think about what you're saying.
