Transmission/Engine F**ked Up....
SO i've had my car for over a year. Everything has been working fine for the most part.
Anyway, as I'm driving back from a concert tonight i notice the message "check Stabilitrack" on the display. I questioned it, hit the clear icon, and continued to drive. I then head onto the highway and this is where i see problems. First off, the acceleration is not even CLOSE to here it was, it was like I was driving my brothers 1993 Buick. I shrugged and continued. I reached 65 mph (speed limit was 70) and i notice i couldnt go any faster. TO THE DOT the speedometer (and message screen) said 65mph and as I pushed the pedal to the floor, it still wouldn't go faster. I was now thinking "what the hell is wrong". So I call OnStar, and they say something about my transmission/engine and to "immediately" take it to the car dealer. I'm pissed now. What the hell could be wrong with the car? I've had it for over a year and it's NEVER done this. Why would it stop EXACTLY at 65 mph? And why now? really weird. I'm going to take it into the shop tomorrow but wondered if anyone has any insight to what could be wrong here? **side note - when i was at 65mph the RPM was at 4k....never has it been that high, it's usally at 2k or less at that speed....also, the cruise control wouldnt work **

Almost seems like a fuel, or maybe computer problem.

Hard to say what it is. BUt at least it was running and driving in Limp mode. Probably a sensor or computer issue. Get it looked at before saying your engine is #$#%#$ up.

I wonder if that limiter is kicking in (the setting you can set a max speed to) even if it's off. Hopefully they get it fixed.

It may well be a Engine/Trans issue and the computer put the car in limp mode to protect itself until you got to a dealer. I mean, clearly the computer had stepped in but that doesn't mean it was the problem. Sounds like it didn't want you shifting any higher than 4th gear.

I've not had an OnStar person (unless I've asked for Tech Support) quite know enough to guess on your behalf. I had a simple "Shipping Mode" on a LaCrosse in Florida last New Years Eve and we leaving to drive home the next morning. The OnStar operator didn't know what it was and suggested we take it to a dealer immediately. Asking for Tech Support, we got someone who knew how the car got in to this mode and what to do to get out of it. As CTF cars don't have owners manuals it was quite handy. I am not possitive, but I don't think all OnStar operators are trained in how your car works. And basically, your car is like the B2 bomber..........without the PCM/TCM you aren't going very far very fast. Get it to a dealer and have them look at it. That's the only way you are going to know what is going on with your car.....at least from what you are describing.
