Engine swap to V8

In future when my V6 is dieing.

What I need to change and do to swap for new engine? Specially V8.
Not really horsie freak so 350 would be nice. Also dont want to loose 6speed automatic.

How is new engine going to act with cars computer?

Would be cheaper and faster to just trade in the V6 and buy a similar year V8. Especially if your V6 is the auto. Your current auto trans won't just swap over to the V8 engine and the rear end (axles/diff) doesn't contain the same parts as the V8-equipped cars.

It would be a task. Rear end, probably new transmission, custom engine mounts.

Anything can be done for the right price, but it'd be WAY up there.

I assume you are expecting it to die after the warr. is up? In that case, why not rebuild the motor and go FI? By that time there will be lots of options. It will be cheaper and give you more power than current 6.2L with a full suite of bolt ons.

Bad idea in massive ways, mostly a huge waste of money.

Keep in mind that he's looking so far in the future that his engine is hypothetically "dying," so it would be presumable that his transmission is approaching the same fate. Since the transmission won't have a long life ahead of it, replacing it with something more appropriate would make sense.

I am considering a similar project for a the distant future, assuming that I can either get around emissions laws or pass somehow.

I would recommend saving up for a newer, more efficient platform. If you're going to spend the money to go with a new drivetrain, do it right. Throw an LS376 in there and mate it to a race-built transmission. You'll also need to replace everything between the transmission and the rear wheels. It would be a lot less expensive than buying a V8 and swapping most of the drivetrain, especially since you would have gotten your money out of the vehicle by daily driving it.

Would the 350 cut it? I mean that car IS somewhat more heavier now. Hmmm but then again the V6 only produces a little bit more than the 350. But would it?

if you want a V8,it would be much cheaper to trade cars.of course i had a little 3.8 turbo grand national that didn't run too bad.
