The Pontiac GTO (Holden Monaro coupe) and Pontiac G8 (Holden Commodore sedan) were manufactured in Adelaide, Australia by GM subsidiary Holden and imported to the States. Holden was first with Synergy Green in 2006. Holden also makes a GTO/G8 truck version called the Ute (Utility Truck Vehicle) which may be sold in the States during the 2012 model year as the Chevy El Camino. The Ute is built on the same frame (Zeta) as the 5th gen Camaro. I consider the Camaro and Ute as cousins from down under. Check out some of the Ute photos posted in an album on my page (stlrammer). Where did you hear that they're going to make a new El Camino? I think that would be pretty cool if they actually did that!

There have been tons of rumors about bring back the G8/Commodore, the Ute, and even possibly the Wagon. There is a slightly larger version of the G8 coming as a Police Package on Chevy available next year.

I actually had my name on the list at my dealer for a G8 Sport Truck (ute) when I heard back in 08 that they were coming out. I wouldn't hold my breath.

i saw the pontiac g8 gxp sport truck/ el camino /ute at the LA autoshow right before gm went bankrupt. looked pretty sweet.

my dealer told me that the g8 would be coming back as the caprice classic to satisfy the real wheel cop market that has a huge void.

I've heard rumor of that as well. Hope we see the G8 again and the utility truck too no matter what badge it wears (as long as its GM).
