Help on Roto-fab intake!!!!!

I recently installed my roto-fab intake about 2 weeks ago. I don't know what to think of it and I'm kind of confused! It sounds exactly the same as stock, a slight whistle but thats about it. I didn't install it myself I actually brought it to a local repair shop that I usually work with so I assumed they installed it correctly. I pulled up a video on youtube roto-fab intalled on a BONED (like mine)stock v6 and the sound of it compared to mine was night and day. What should I do? Call roto-fab or do you guys think the shop needs to tweak it somehow?

Does it look like it is installed right? There is not really anything to tweak, it's either in right or it's not. Maybe the hood seal is not sealing properly?

Your roto-fab cai is probably working as advertised if installed correctly; i recently put one on my g8 gt -- it makes a slight whistle when i get on it and makes the exhaust grunt more pronounced. As far as comparing what you hear on a posted youtube vid to your own - sounds are going to be distorted or muffled since its a recording let alone possibly a different recording - don't worry and enjoy that ride man

Did you check box, tube, clamps, and maf senser? Make sure all are snug. Not much to a CAI other than a tight seal. MAF sensers needs to read extra air flow to adjust. Should have quicker throttle response.

I'm gonna call roto-fab tomorrow and see what they suggest and I'll probably take it back to the shop to double check if everything is tight and intsalled properly. The video they put out sounds completely different from what I'm getting. Like I said, a slight whistle but thats about it no sound in exaust at all.

I dont think you will really hear a bunch of difference in the exhaust . You still have the same mufflers. (i didnt when i did mine) I did feel a good bit different throttle response .

i installed mine myself, not a huge exhaust note change. Slightly deeper, but not the huge difference you describe. Mine whistles above 3k, barely though. If it isn't on right, you're more than likely going to get a CEL when the engine leans out too much (assuming the filter isn't seated). if anything wiggles when you try to move it, may not be tightened down 100%. Once tightened, everything was super firm on my install. Beyond that i don't know what you would possibly have to check on it. Good luck though.

I don't get why the video said "BONE STOCK" and sounded way better then mine, I would totally understand if the car had an exaust system but it didn't.

Bone stock can mean different things to different people, not everyone gives a true picture (or sound) all the time.

Roto-fab puts out a good product.

Mod your exhaust!

Hmm. Since nobody with a roto-fab on a stock setup chimed in. The sound difference (which is HUGE) comes from the engine compartment, not the the exhaust. It is heard only under acceleration and sounds like a roaring monster, much meaner than the You-tube video. Here's the thread you can read to confirm this.

Edit : Honestly, the sound (roar?) is so good that, I have pushed an exhaust upgrade all the way down my list.

So do you have the set up yourself? Where are you getting this "roaring monster" idea from?

I do, did the install myself, and posted in the thread I linked as well. There's many threads on the "noise" gains (apart from the performance) from the roto-fab intake. Just do a search!
