Question magnacharger 2010 camaro pump questions

Hey guys, well i installed my supercharger and it runs great, nothing seems to be leaking and the radiator levels are holding off great. One question i have is the pump that actually pumps all the dexcool threwout the supercharger is in a engine room so it gets really hot obviously. Are the pumps they put with the kit high heat pumps? I was thinking if somthing happenes that my pump goes out while i am driving and dont know about it. My supercharger is gonna burn up. When i started thinking about it i was like there has got to be a way to know if that goes out because i dont wanna screw anything up. This is my first supercharger and i just wanna make sure everything is perfect so i can take care of it.

Thanks for any comments for realxing me worrying.

Jared

Well hopefully your pump was installed low on the frame rail toward the front. In that position mine doesn't ever get hot. The supercharger won't burn up if the pump fails. Your IAT will go up and you should notice a drop in power.

They should have put a diff color coolant in the SC system to help determine which system is leaking if a problem occurs.

FYI, the pump only carries a 1 year warranty while the rest of the system is 3 years.

They are the same pumps that come stock on Lightning's if I believe so they are rated for high temp operation.

I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. But I would make a mental note to start checking it regularly when it turns a year old. I would personally reduce the coolant/water ratio to 25/75 as water has a higher heat latency. You only need coolant for corrosion protection. Used distilled water only and throw in some Redline Water Wetter while you are at it....

I have been checking it everytime when i start the car. Actually if i just turn the key to "on" the pump starts working. I think im gonna call magnacharger and see what they say. Im sure they will give me some advice since i live in a place with excessive heat. That does sounds like a good idea though changing the ratios of water to coolant. Im going to run that past them. Also in the winter it gets like 30 degrees here ( i know we have weird temp changes) do supercharged cars work alot better in the winter since there would obviously be more compression going on or does the engine heat kinda cancel that out?

Thanks for all the replys guys

Trust me...if your pump runs dry...it will be whining like a MotherF###er. I have had first hand experience with this as I forgot to put the plug in the intercooler. I am lucky I didn't burn my pump up.

These are BOSCH pumps rated for continuous use. They have been tested in the heat of death valley and the freezing temps of Alaska. Do not worry about the pump, check your fluids per GM's recommendations and go out and enjoy your car!

You will experience a huge difference when the temps are that low. The colder the air the denser it is and more fuel will be added accordingly. Your IAT's will be much lower and things will get scary cuz you aren't gonna have much traction at those temps. Ask me how I know!!

Personally I prefer to run the same coolant type as the engine. That way you can never accidentally mix the coolants if you are trying to top them off (or even more importantly your mechanic won't mix them up either). If you mix dex-cool with standard glycol coolant (the green stuff) you end up with Jell-O so I would rather spend a little extra time hunting for a potential leak than clearing my cooling system and intercooler system of sludge.
