And I often wonder about the people who don't. It's a privacy issue because you can get name and address from a tag.

The locations are whatever you want to put rather than an exact address.

Not worried about it myself, locked garage and three pit bulls will keep my baby safe, to each their own.

I wonder the same thing...I know it's a privacy issue, but people see my license plates every day when I drive (front and back--stupid Illinois laws)

I also have three poster size pictures of all three my cars up in my classroom, and they have the license plates on them. Every semester my students that are taking Drivers Ed. have to tell me that I shouldn't have my plate on the picture because one of them could use that information to find 'stuff' out about me. The Drivers Ed. teacher told them so.They also let me know that I shouldn't have vanity plates because they are dangerous.

I ask them 'Where do the teachers park?' They answer -- 'Next to the tennis courts and football fields.'

I ask them 'Where do we go during a fire drill?' They answer -- 'The teachers' parking lot.'

I ask them 'How many times do you see my car.' They answer -- 'Every day, sometimes multiple times.'

I ask them 'Did you know that was my car before you were in my class?' They answer -- 'Everyone in the school knows that is your car.'

By this time all of the students have figured out that if anyone wanted to find out all sorts of 'stuff' about me they could do it without having to look at a poster in my classroom.

I guess I feel like I don't have anything to hide, and frankly if someone wants to do something bad to me or my car they are going to do it no matter what. Hopefully they don't, but hiding my license plate on a picture is not on top of my list when it comes to safety.

Think about how many companies have your personal information, such as phone number, address, credit card numbers, social security number....What happens when any of those companies has one bad apple working for them, or if their system is hacked into?

Yes I do shred my important papers, but I don't have my credit card number written on the front and back of my T-shirt when I'm walking around town. I do have my license plate on the front and back of my car that I drive around town.

Either we can live in a plastic bubble or in an underground bunker, or we can live life. Plus, I do believe in exercising my 2nd amendment rights for protection within my home, so if worse comes to worse at least I'll have a fighting chance.

I've wondered the same thing...i mean what's the difference between having it on here and having everybody see it when you drive around? I mean if it was really a privacy issue you would drive around with no plates or have them covered.

This has been discussed before. The result was that if your plates are visible, its not hard to get your address. Ok, so what? Well... if your car is obviously parked outside your home, thieves know they can show up at night and steal your wheels. Or, if you picture your car in your garage beside your 1965 Corvette Stingray, then, well.. they know where a 1965 Corvette Stingray is parked, etc.

Bottom line is if you are too lazy to blur out the plates, then don't give too much information in the background of the pictures.

I used to blur out my plates, but now I don't bother.

People make it sound easy to take someones license plate numbers and find out their address. Can someone please show me the site that provides you with a licenses plate database.

I can't say that I'm tooooo worried about it, but I would think that it isn't the people that you see on the road every day that you have to worry about... It's the people that live in other countries that would LOVE to use your images and address info for scams and such... how many times have you heard of people scammed on craigslist, ebay, etc. from places like Nigeria, Kenya, etc? Just makes it that much easier for them to get your information and use it. We (Americans) are not the only people that have the "internets"....
