DT headers installed...

Yeah, I finally got my DT headers and MRT2.0 installed, im going to pick up my car in about an hour.... with 750 dollars on me. The guy is a friend of my uncles, said he did about 15 hours worth of work on this...... I did not expect to have to pay 750 dollars for an install... ill have the details about what he did after I talk to him face to face.

750 isnt that bad if he actually did 15 hours of work, he said he only charged me for 10... anybody have some thoughts about this?

um, well it should have taken about 1hr or less to do the mufflers.... at maybe about $70-$100. so that puts the headers at about lets say $650 ish..... WOW that sounds like a lot of money for headers.....

either way good luck and put up a video if you can this is the setup I want someday

That seems like it took a lot longer than it should have.

I took my Camaro to a customs shop to install a full DT 2.5" Catback Exhaust and DT Shorty Headers. The shop had never worked on a Camaro before and they took about 8 hours total to install both at a cost of $600.00.

I think most people have been paying $250-$400 for just the header installation.

Was that 750 bucks on top of the cost for the parts?? Wowzers!! No way I'd ever expect or want to pay that much for a header/exhaust install.

I'm considering the DTs in my future, but the install is one of the negatives of going with shorties. By the time you pay for install, its basically the cost of, or more than going with BBK long tubes which can be installed by the owner if they are up for it. (not including tune cost of course if that is added).

Anyways, you will have to get back to us on the sound and performance differences!

You got absolutely raped on that. Wow, if it really took him that long he's completely incompetent, and the other scenario is he's just charging you for that many hours. Either way, wouldn't go back there.

15 hours must have included sex, beer, birth of a baby whale and perhaps an alien abduction. As a previous auto mech one of two things happened.

1. He did more than you are telling us and other things were added as well or....

2. He didn't have a clue what he was doing and you over paid for it.

Either way it makes me sad to hear you got hosed.

dang i was thinking about attempting to do the install of these headers myself when i buy them. but honestly, i haven't been underneath the hood of a car in about 3 years so idk if my mechanic skills are exactly what they used to be, and I'd hate to mess up my engine because i bit off more than i could chew. was it a fairly easy install or not really?
