3way exhaust switch

Is there a 3 way exhaust switch out there? What i mean by this is a switch with three different settings instead of two as all the mild2wild ones. (Factory, always open and always closed)

Anyone know how to wire that elegantly if its not available?

Thanksin advance!

Check out sunset orange creations - they have an rpm based switch for the npp exhaust.

yes, always closed! The stock is open at idle and higher RPMs. I want somethign where you can have them closed at all times...

Which comes in handy if you life somewhere where they have inspections and you will fail if your car is too loud! ;-)

P.S. The sunset orange creations switch is the same as any other M2W switch. it allows you to have them always open or stock... but not always closed.

I thought the two settings on the sunset orange creations was Always Open and Always Closed ? at least, that's what they advertise. Their Elite Controller also allows USER RPM mode, which works like stock except you can set the RPMs that are the transition points.

you could do this. with voltage applied they are closed. you may have to add a diode in the mix so you are not feeding voltage back to the ECM or what ever source controls the flap.

if you put a diode in the wire that controls voltage to the flaps then tapped the other side of that with a 12v wire in your third position of your switch you would force them closed witout feeding 12v back up the wire that originally controled that flaps. I do not know if feeding 12v back up that circuit would cause issue or not but I usually don't risk stuff like that.

I never could understand how a car could fail inspection if it were factory equipped. This shouldn't be an issue ...

MrDew - You are looking at the wrong item. They have one that works based on custom set rpm - it may not be on the website yet. Email them and they can tell you more. I know because I did the same.

I also remember seeing a post from ADM Performance (i think it was ADM) that they had created an in-house "stealth mode" for a customer's ZL1 exhaust. I never got much info out of them as to what that included, but it appears they accomplished it.

Stock exhaust will pass all 50 states noise requirements. It's DOT stamped.

Well, i move back to europe soon and i know that some had to install an additional muffler (at least for inspection) on the SS because it was too loud! Since the ZL1 is even louder than an SS i assume i'll have the same problem unless it would pass with the flaps closed.

P.S. They dont really care for DOT over there!
P.P.S. I'll give orange creations a call and see if they can hock me up...

NY state law states (you cannot modify or alter your exhaust to amplify or make louder than what it comes factory) So if it is stock they cant do a thing about it. I know that law because of a loud exhaust ticket I got with my truck that I deleted the muffler and ran true duals on.

Not to argue the point, and you are correct, but the Town of Amherst code states a Noise ordinance of no more than 85 decibels, a stock 2012 ZL1 and a stock 2013 GT 500 both measure 87 at WOT (Think it was stated in Car and Driver).
