My ZL1's hood insert is not carbon fiber ???

Why is the hood insert on my ZL1 NOT Carbon fiber , I just noticed its not ......

ALL Zl1 hood inserts are made of carbon fiber.

Some inserts come from the factory painted (standard) or you can opt for the optional exposed carbon fiber finish.

The ECF insert is a carbon fiber insert that was clear coated rather than painted. Since you can see the actual carbon fiber weave through the clear coat, extrac care has to be taken to get the weave uniform in apperance. Thus the extra cost.

Both factory versions are made of carbon fiber.

Every Insert is made of Carbon Fiber....

HOWEVER, the option to SEE the weave of the carbon fiber (The "look" everyone is used to) is just that, an option.

Other wise its painted grey. But again, it is still MADE from carbon fiber.

Did you order it or take it off of a lot?

If you ordered it, then that's kind of on you for not knowing the options....and for quite a period of time the Exposed version was on constraint was effectively "sold out". I don't know if its still that way but if you wanted your car right away the dealer probably ordered the one that would get it to you faster.

The exposed carbon fiber option is a $600.00 option.

I went in to the dealer , I wanted a black on black , n they told me they found one we had it delivered and I took ownership of it , it really don't matter . I just didn't want My Z to have a repro hood or a fake knock off replaced by the dealer or something

Didn't know you had a ZL1. What does the Monroney Label (window sticker) say? Post a picture. I have the Exposed insert which cost me $600 more.

Are you kidding?! I love your shop! Great looking ZL1. That's a dream shop! CTS-V, Merc, Viper, Hotrods... You are the man! Yeah, looks like the Painted Carbon Fiber Hood Insert. Very nice, brand spank'n new. Tough break-in period, 1,500 miles trying to keep it under 80mph and under 4,000rpm's. Good Luck trying to do just that, glad that parts over for me.
