Hood Slit

I'm a new Camaro owner and still trying to learn different specs on each model Camaro. Is it standard for all V8 Camaros to have the hood slit or are there V8s out there that have the same non-slit hood like the V6s?

Thanks! Reason I ask is I saw a parked bumblebee that had "SS" logo but had the same hood without vent as my 2LT/RS.

either they switched out the front fascias with a v6 or they added SS badges to their v6.

Well, almost all. They might have switched out for a ZL1 fascia. I wonder if people savvy about the mail slot think I have a V6?

They may have installed a "mail slot delete" that makes the slot very hard to see unless you're right on top of it. Some folks just don't like the mail slot (which is actually on the front fascia... not the hood). Personally, I think it looks great.

Not if they look at your actual hood - which I think looks really cool.

But with aftermarket parts, you have guys with V6's that have added them, guys with SS's that don't have them anymore, ZL1's never had them, people putting on ZL1 front ends.

But generally speaking of stock cars, the SS's have the mail slot and the V6's don't.

Never heard it called hood slit. Do you mean the vent on the 2014 hood, or the mailslot on the bumper of SS's

yeah, wouldn't really call the "hood slit" or "mail slot" a vent...as it's fake, and doesn't vent anything.

edit: also the fact that it's not on the hood...

2010-2013, stock SS trim or lower don't have anything in the hood but the SS's do have the mail slot in the front fascia. As seen here:

2012 & 2013 ZL1s have vents in the hood and no mail slot in front fascia. As seen here:

2014 SS's have a hood slit in the middle of the hood, as seen here:
