6 Speed manual shifting?

I just bought a 2014 SS with a 6 spd. manual, it defaults to the 1st to 4th efficiency shifting mode, I read the owner's man. and still confused it states must shift from 1st. to 4th. to turn off. My question is can I turn this mode off any other way? thanks to all for the help.

You can either give it a little more gas if the system engages, and you will pass by the parameters that make it kick in, or you can buy a simple plug in harness that turns it off. The message still appears in the DIC, but it won't lock you out of 2nd gear. Contact Apex on the forum to purchase one (as well as many other vendors that carry them). It's called a skip-shift eliminator.
