Snake Plissken and Bob Haulk

Well, let's hope the remake sucks as bad as I think it will. You cannot top this:

Remake??? Oh no. Please say you're joking. There is only one Snake Plissken.

I saw Escape from NY on the big screen last fall in Boston. They played Escape from NY, The Thing, and Big Trouble in Little China. College crowd, and they loved them all especially Big Trouble, but the crowd for The Thing was hardcore Carpenter/Horror. Also caught They Live, The Warriors (fantastic time) and the original Night of the Living Dead, which was super cool to see on the big screen instead of TV.

It was like my memories of seeing movies in the '80s- everyone was into it, and cheering. Awesome.

Coolidge Corner movies at midnight each Saturday. They play some cool stuff. Saw Bladerunner last month.

This summer's offerings are not my favorite batch but Silence of the Lambs?? I'll be there. Maybe for Friday 13th too. Harold and Maude is funny as hell, but I'm not sure I'll devote a "home at quarter to three in the morning" day to it.

They play Jaws over labor day. Awesome, awesome time.

I would love to see Escape fro NY on the big screen. I have it on Blu-ray but it is not the same as seeing it on the big screen.

It was pretty great. Original 35mm print too. First couple minutes were tinted red (happens to old film sometimes) , and then the rest was pretty mint.

The 35mm print of Bladerunner though...very red until the last half hour. Had to be a real fan to enjoy that. I felt bad for anyone seeing it for the first time, the entire visual impact was shot to hell. But it was a movie house copy (a hint as to why it sucked), and there was a preview spliced in, for the Micheal Keeton/Henry Winkler film Nightshift. Kind of surreal.

In Clinton MA there is a cinema that plays vintage films and you can rent the place and pick a film:

Would LOVE to see this film

I don't really think there's many remakes I've ever liked. Works ok for Superhero movies sometimes, however I'm not sure I'd call Snake a superhero. More like a badass

I don't think anyone of these guys could pull off a Snake Plisskin character.

Escape From New York is my favorite Kurt Russell movie.

I like Emily Blunt... but, to be blunt about it, THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA!

Sorry...that title goes to Big Trouble in Little China for me

If you're not really that busy...

Big Trouble is in my top five list of all time great films. Carpenter's The Thing is also in the top five. Too bad that one came out same years as E.T. Kinda different perspectives on the whole alien thing.

Vigo Mortensen's Vanishing Point is an exception for me. I like it much better than the original. I couldn't like the original Kowalski, I find him to be a deadbeat washed up druggie and therefore not only redundant but boring. I feel the car acted better too.
