Paddle Shifter replacement
Sooo I have Vitesse Paddle Shifters on my Camaro and yesterday while getting out it caught on my jeans and ripped out of the steering wheel. My steering wheel was turner upside down exposing the longer portion of the shifter. I almost never do this but it happened and this is my second time. I know it will need the entire assembly/controller
First time happened, I had the dealership do it. The part was like $50 but two hours of labor which was around $240 How hard is it to replace? Just remove the airbag and bezel? or do I need to remove the steering wheel? I'll snap pics tomorrow. Debating if I should go back to OEM. I am always careful and never hit it but I was distracted. Thanks

Wow, my guess would be removing the steering wheel but don't really know. I am still having an issue getting mine in lol, I think I am doing a number on the outer black part. Called it quits for now until it warms up.

I plan on going to the shifter that has the shift buttons on the shifter. I believe it's from CDF?? Just search it. . . I kinda loose the paddle positioning when turning and believe this would eliminate this. I also heard someone leaving their paddle shifters active by installing a toggle switch in between the two (SHIFTER OR STEERING WHEEL) that way you will have the best of both. . . good luck with whatever you choose.
(OP - Sorry I didn't read through your whole post correctly. . . I have no idea how to replace/what to remove. I'll leave the top just incase anyone else is interested. . . again good luck!)

Hit me up if you need help. It's so easy to exchange. There is a pin that holes the shifter in place. I used the hex key that came with the Vitesse and pushed the pin out. It only goes in one direction which I believe push from the top. Then just do the same in reverse. Hit me up if you need help.

Haha ... No worries. I saw the tap buttons on the shifter. I don't like the look. The Vitesse shifter is long and allows for access while turning. I love them. Just gotta be careful when getting out. I'm 6'4 so it's easy to hit if wheel is upside down. I always straighten out.

You're right. 2011 is different than the 2012+ shifters. This is what I found. 1 - With a small flat screw driver, insert it between the existing buttons and the plastic housing, pry-up and pop-out the existing buttons. 2 - Holding the Paddles upright, insert the Top pin inside the housing and using the same flat screw driver, insert it between the housing and right next to the Paddle Shifter's bottom pin by pushing away the plastic housing to allow it to enter easily without scratching or damaging the plastic. 3 - Try activating the Paddle Shifters to make sure they are well positioned and engage the shifts. 4 - Repeat the same process above on the Right hand side and you're all set ! Please avoid removing them frequently to avoid damaging the plastic housing. Enjoy your New Paddle Shifters !

I've run into some issues with mine aswell not a design flaw issue just annoyance i stripped my plastic housing pretty good despite using a small flathead screwdriver on the up-shift side. Now it's nice and messed up Vitesse said to lightly pry the edges with the pins but not on the pin out 1 or 2mm and add some padding to the back if it's not always registering. Havent yet tried any of this bit cold out this time of year.

There is an adjustment grub screw on the back- you can adjust the sensitivity/play there. I think if you get the instructions on youtube that they posted, you can see it demonstrated. I have mine adjusted pretty tight/sensitive.

Anyone have the Hurst paddle shifters? They look more sturdy.
