There is not much HP gain with either a cat back or axle back to my understanding. Mainly to change the way the car sounds and we must admit, the stock exhaust sounds pretty bad.

I'de have to say just the addition to your grin from the sounds adds a few negligible horsepower to your ego for sure. Check out Magnaflow.com, use the year/make/model drop down. View the video's and sound for the V-6 setups. Order from us to save a bundle! Let me know when I can get you a quote.

Mainly for the Sound!... plus you don't see those ugly large orig.mufflers.
With my MRT axle-back I did gain App. 1/10 of a sec. on 0-60mph times. Can't say 100% because the DA was slightly different (266 ft.) on the runs.

This is a tricky question because a cat back will give you more horsepower if you have aftermarket headers than if you have an axleback. So if you are getting headers I would go with the cat back exhaust.

I dyno'ed my before and after installing my MRT axle-back.... showed a nice little gain in the mid-range...

Closer look at the gain that starts just above 5000 RPM:

As others have said... you do exhaust mainly for sound, looks and weight... those stock mufflers are heavy! LOL!

As for header... BBK showed some promising results with their long tube headers that they are testing... I will most likely stick with shorty headers keeping the stock cats...

Sure, I'll call him and find out. I don't live on part dollars like the rest of the vendors over here. I do this for fun...hence my pricing model can be a bit more lean. I'm an enthusiast just like you! I support anyone who helps car enthusiasts by empowering them with savings and knowledge.

By the way your bandit exhaust logo doesn't seem to go anywhere (encoding seems outa' wack in your sig. bro)...logo looks cool though!

Update: Website for those interested, www.banditexhaust.com , Ph # 702-516-9139. Currently no answer. Left voicemail. Calling on PN # 16581. I can't post pricing here but I'll be sure to give you a confident/honest answer (Yes or No) in reference to your post.

Adding an axle-back will yield a small increase in the mid-range horsepower. You will see more of a gain replacing the entire cat-back. Changing from the H-pipe to the X-pipe makes a significant difference, and the axle-backs don't touch the stock H-pipe. Most people who get an axle-back do it for the change in sound, the lower cost, the reduced weight, or because they plan on adding long-tube headers with higher-flowing cats, and eventually will just weld in an X-pipe. An axle-back with long tube headers, and sometimes just an axle-back by itself will cause a bit of drone at certain RPM ranges. I hope this helps.

So if you have axle-back currently and you are adding JBA shorties should you replace the H-pipe with an X-pipe?

If you did that, it would sound more aggressive and you would probably see a power increase. The X-pipe works well with this car!
