I think something about clutches just hate me. Thursday it seemed to me that it was getting stiffer when I shifted in my 2LT/RS 6M but I put it off to not having driven the car much lately since I spent a week traveling. Well by Saturday night it was obvious something is very wrong with the clutch. My engagement point is pretty much on the floor, I barely take pressure off the clutch and I can feel the clutch start to grab. It is next to impossible to shift into 1st or 2nd and 3rd is very tough too. I've got just over 6,000 miles so this better be under warranty, this car hasn't seen the track or even street racing.
Anyone else here have similar problems? I checked the fluid reservoir which was full and doesn't look burnt. Putting in an online service request through my local dealer now but they are closed today. What really sucks is I just lost a valve spring in my other Camaro so I'm carless until one is fixed. |

I tend to agree. The clutch in the AY6 is very different from the other manuals I have (Tremec TR6060 in my Z06).
1-2 quick shifts are nearly impossible with the AY6, as the disengagement point /engagement of the clutch is almost to the floor, as you describe above. With the TR, I can simultaneeously engage the clutch and begin pulling the shifter from 1 to 2. With the AY, the clutch better be all the way to the floor before you grab second or it will zing the gears a bit on syncro. In a nutshell, I'm beginning to think this AY6 transmission is just for cruisning and not serious preformance driving. Something unique to get used to. |

Hey, I know it's been a while since you posted this, but did you ever get the issue resolved? My car is on its third week at the dealer with the same issue. The first time it went in they replaced the clutch/flywheel assembly and returned the car to me. I had it three days until it started to do the exact same thing again... I could barely get it in to first, secong, or reverse. I took it back in and now they;ve replaced the slave cylinder and hydraulic line, but can't figure out how to bleed the system. They are apparently waiting on GM engineers to come and take a look at it...
