Does the ZL1 vert have top problems too?
Just wondering...my wife and I are considering a new Camaro...she wants a vert but I want the ZL1. Heard a lot about top problems with the other models how about the ZL1?

I have a 2013 ZL1 Vert delivered 8-27-12 with 13,000 miles on and absolutely NO problems with the top or anything else.
I did have a 2011 2SS/RS Vert when they first came out and had minor rub marks, but the dealer replaced the top with help from some GM engineers and it was perfect till I traded it in with 22,000 miles on it. The only reason I traded the 2011 in was they came out with the ZL1 vert. |

No top issues for me, but if you're looking for the highest performance, get the coupe. The verts are speed limited to 155, no belly pan, no PTM. If your wife really wants a vert and you are willing to overcome those things with mods, ZL1 vert is the way to go.

thanks for the feedback...she actually wants a mustang convertible and I want a ZL1 coupe...the ZL1 vert is our compromise.

Lmao!! That's what happened to me but I got M6 then modded it to where she got scared and never cared to learn to drive a manual! She did get paybacks and bought a Beamer vert but oh well I'll smoke it!!! Oh and no top issues either!

No way you will ever regret getting a Z vert.
You will be very pleased and happy with it.

OP. all vert tops/mechanisms are the same on all trim lines. the LT, SS, or ZL1. the difference is the year/build date. anything over June or July 2012 build date will have the updated 13 tops and water management. so, a new 13 or 14 ZL1 vert will have the new improvements. i think you will be safe with it. i bought my 13 vert in October (2LT), and so far, so good, knock on wood. of course, if you can garage the car, the better. Haartz is the top (cloth) manufacturer. get the conditioners/cleaners, Raggtop is the brand to take care of the top. good luck!!
