Brembo brake pad change suggestions
I know there is already thread about Brembo brake pad squeaking noise at very light speed breaking. I have 22k miles on my car. I just want to know when I should change my brake pad as this squeaking noise confuse with the GM noise brake pad indicator. I had my brake pad checked at 16k miles it was 8mm at that time. Can anyone share experience how many miles they get with OEM brembo brake pads? I mostly drive in city and we have heavy traffic in Atlanta. And also can you suggest best brake pads?

37k for me. No tracking during this time just spirited driving and a few trips to the drag strip.

The squeaking got on my nerves so I changed mine to ceramic pads. I would suggest getting ceramic pads next time.

Can someone confirm if these pads can be swapped out without removing caliper?

If you wait until they squeal to indicate it's time to change, you risk damaging your rotors. OEM pads are excellent for normal and spirited driving, and will last a long time. Try pulling your wheels off and looking at them to see "exactly" what you have left.

Since I did my pad and rotor change, I've had zero squeak. I replaced them with OEM and made sure I bedded them.

The best I have come across so far. Been using them ever since I had my '02 Vette.

Hawk pads have been good for me and are a decent improvement over the stock pads (for the street). I got hawk street 5.0 pads and two piece racing brake front rotors and this combo works great with no noise. However, I did take them to the track once and my brakes got really hot and they failed, so keep it on the street if you go with either Hawk ceramic or 5.0 street compound. (I too drive in heavy stop and go traffic every weekday here in the bay area.)

I went to Hawk DTC-30 in the front and HP+ in the read and have since switched back to Brembos; they are good pads.
The DTC-30 chewed into my rotors and I had to replace them. But that setup made our heavy car feel like a feather-light Honda when braking. The best thing I've done is to go to the 6 piston front caliper with the brembos. Stops really well now.
