Does the A/C reduce power
So it just started to get really hot in NC like 90 degrees hot. So i turned on the A/C because I could not take it anymore and went to step on it and feels like the A/C reduced its power. Am I going crazy or is this normal?

This is true with all cars. For max performance you want to turn off everything except the ignition.

You think the LLT is bad, I used to have an all black on black vinyl top convertible with a mid-engine 1.8. A/C on? Fuggeddaboudit. But yes, it is normal

That's what the sun roof is for, next best thing to a rag top without being on the rag.

Yes it does, but not enough for me to not use my A/C.

I have heard that running the AC takes around 20 hp, rather this figure is right or wrong fact of the matter is it increases the load on your engine.
I learned this the hard way after wondering why my car was so sluggish, during a summer auto cross event, to only upon crossing the finish line feel the lovely cold air blowing on my face Fact: Running the AC uses horsepower Fact: Running the AC versus running the fan only decreases mileage |

I do not know about that. I guess my adrenaline is pumping at wide open throttle that the 20 seconds of time is over so quickly it is not noticed.

Can anyone answer this one finally for me? Can running the A/C in recirculate mode cause the engine to overheat, especially at idle? No one had ever been able to tell me (definitively) what the impact of using this mode is.
Little help?

No. All the recirc option does is close off the intake vents that pull in outside air. That way, the fan can recirculate the cooler air inside the car. It will not cause the engine to overheat.

All I know is the summer I blew out all of the freeze plugs in a POS 78 Olds Cutlass, I suffered heatstroke because the only way I could get it to my mechanic was to drive it(on a 90+ deg day) with the heat blasting on the hottest setting and the fan on the highest speed to keep the engine fan going so I wouldn't overheat, because I had to replace the coolant I left on the parking lot with water. Now, that being said, it may not be the same with the computers in cars today. It will be interesting to find out....
