There is a dealership here in the Houston area that is doing the same thing. He said the coupes are selling just fine....but not the convertibles. I think they have 3 on their lot!

I wonder if people don't like having all the different track modes in the verts?

I think word is getting out about all the top issues Camaro has had and it's making people hesitant to pick up a ZL1 vert-- expensive car to have the issues, if they haven't fixed it yet!

I had a 2011 Vert that did have the rub marks and had the top replaced successfully.

I traded that car in for my ZL1 Vert. So far I have 1200 miles on the ZL1 Vert and the top is absolutly perfect.

I'm willing to bet that it may just be the high price for the ZL1 Verts that's keeping it from flying off the lots.

Perhaps all it would take is a test drive in one to convince people to buy it.

I LOVE mine.

Yes I'm dissapointed that it doesn't have the PTM's the coupe has, and it does have a slower top speed 'only' 155mph, but as someone pointed out, people will by the coupe for performance, and buy the Vert for pleasure.

Gas guzzler tax is $1,300 on coupes. Is it really double on convertible ZL1s?

Gas Guzzler tax it related to whether the car is an Auto trans or a manual trans. It has nothing to do with if it's a coupe or a Vert.

I didn't know that. (I never considered getting a ZL1 with automatic transmission and never considered getting a convertible.) Thanks for the information.

History indicates that there hasn't been a very large market for very high performance convertibles. For example there were 14 1970 Hemi 'Cuda convertibles built, and 9 1970 Hemi Challenger convertibles built, and rumor has it about 20 (the actual number is unknown) 1970 LS6 Chevelle convertibles built. Most purchasers of very high performance vehicles tend to opt for coupes, as the coupes are less expensive (the ZL1 Convertible is about $5K more expensive than the ZL1 Coupe) and are generally better suited for racing.

So fewer PTM modes, top speed governed, heavier, and more expensive. Do I have this right?

Is the GT500 Vert governed?

I don't think there is a GT500 vert.

Top speed is governed in both the coupe and the Vert, it's just that the governed speed in the Vert is lower at 155mph not because of the car itself, but because of teh fabric top.

But yes, you have it right, but on the plus side, just put that top down and ENJOY! That pure joy (to me) makes up for the other minor items.

I think another reason too, at 65K, they are also bordering on the cost of a new GS convertible Vette. With some dealers taking $10+k off the Vettes, they right around the same price if not cheaper than the ZL1 convertible...

True, but then again older people might not be limber enough to get in and out of a car that sits as low as a Vett.

Plus, a Vett doesn't have a back seat to haul the grandkids around in.
