Coolant leak (all of it!!)
I was driving yesterday and suddenly engine temp rises and my engine light comes on and tells me to idle the engine due to the coolant overheating- i stopped and checked out the radiator after the engine cooled and, to make a long story short, realized that the coolant hose exiting the left base of the block came out!!! (1850 miles) This is a quick connect hose so I was able to put it back in and I have refilled the coolant. I have about 40 miles on it since then, but now I'm a little paranoid about it happening again. Would you guys recommend having a dealer check it out?

screw doing it yourself, woulda called the dealership gotten it on a towtruck and have them fixed it.
now you risk the whole "you didnt fix it right, so your warranty is voided" problems. |

I was doing an oil change and checked my levels and this thing came off so easily. Why do they make it that way?

I don't know what's up with it. I saw some dripping on my garage floor this weekend, but it looked like oil.
I took the Camaro into the dealer this morning and they confirmed that it wasn't in fact an oil leak but a coolant leak. They said the thread backed out on the hose and that they rethreaded the hose and put it back together. Now what color coolant do they put in the Camaro? I could have sworn it was a green color. What was on my garage floor was definitely oil colored. I hope that was the problem, and that I don't still have an oil leak. Guess I'll find out overnight tonight.

If it's on the shop floor and it's just a few drops it could look like oil. You could smell it to tell.

![]() If you have the knowledge to do it...fix it yourself to get the car back on the road...stop by the dealer and have it checked out if you're worried about it.

gobal isnt ok to fill its ok to top off up to a quart. dex cool is an O.A.T. coolant, organic acid technology. global is not. the problem with global is that some manufactures require silicates in the coolant and other say its a no no. so how can it be good for both. i am not saying dex is good i am not a fan of dex myself they say you sould only mix dex with distilled water and should be flushed at the 1st sign of it getting dirty maybe b4 that

![]() My 95 had dexcool in it and one time I had to take it to a quicklube... they topped it off with the new prestone universal.... Long story short I end up with an issue where the coolant won't get up to temp and so I opened the cap and there was this gunk everywhere almost like GAK if you remember that stuff from the 90's... anyways it was all over the thermostat holding it open so I had a coolant flush done and then replaced the thermostat.... Universal DOES NOT MEAN Universal... lol at least not with dex-cool
