Camaro Reviews?

Watched a random review for the Camaro (2SS/M6) from Oct '10.

Most of it was oddly... truthful?

To summarize: Do us Camaro owners forgive some of the small things that might irritate others like:
*Excessive amounts of hard plastic interior.
*Awkwardly gripped steering wheel.
*Controls placed all over the place.
*Terrible visibility.
*Low amount of headroom.

Honestly, being that reviews are always a person to person thing... Ive found that none of the above really bother me. God, the visibility thing alone has been beat/discussed to death.

The review as done by TheSmokingTire on youtube. Dont know if plugging is legal or not? If it isnt, this will be a short thread.
Cheers.

You have to look at it like this :

Car reviewers sit behind the wheel of hundreds of models, and hundreds of cars, so they are able to compare apples to apples, and apples to oranges. Me personally? It's not everyday that I go to a dealership, and test drive and get the "fit and feel" of different vehicles on the lot. So when I am inside of MY Camaro, it feels like a nice car to ME. What someone who gave the car a bad or "ok" review thinks about it, I could care less, because I havent always had "nice" cars to compare to my whole life.

It just felt wierd to watch it and go "oh... yeah tee hee" every once ina while.
On the contrary though, I do love my car. All his little grumbles ive honestly looked past.
Love the '10-'11 steering wheel, and cant stand the '12s =/ Apples to oranges I guess!

I think we (Camaro owners) tend to look at our cars with rose-colored glasses. There are definitely some legitimate gripes out there. Some I agree with, some I don't...or at least choose to ignore because I love this car. The visibility thing IS a real issue. I've just learned to deal with it and am willing to accept it.

Fixed.
The visibility was an issue for maybe the first 2 weeks of ownership. Yeah I might lean a little left or right in conjunction with mirrors to see, but its not in the least an issue. Cheers.

Have more of an issue of not having mod-money... or upgradetoanSS money.... grumblegrumble...

That and GM paint! GRRR!

The other things have been beaten to death, but the "hard plastic interior", "cheap plastic interior", etc., always confuse me.

What do they expect? Wood? Stone? Outside of very expensive cars like a Rolls Royce, I think plastic is going to be the predominant material in most cars.

I strayed to the challenger forum today after getting bad new about my ZL1 order. You think we got problems, you should start reading over there.

Wtf? So you decided to edit out the part where I said I've learned to deal with it? Just like you learned to deal with it? Sounds to me like you agree with what I said.

This is very true. I havent a gripe about this. It looks legit... so I dont care if its hard plastic or gorilla fur. Some people must assume it has to be CF or wood trim... /shrug

Not a dodge guy, guess thats the bonus for me. Sleek looking cars no doubt (challenger/new charger) but not my cup of tea.

I wanted to focus on the fact that being absolutely enthralled with our cars makes it hard for some SMALL things to bum us out. No harm intended, I just clipped it as a focal point. Cheers.

EDIT:
I cant understand if you learned to deal with it, or I did? Trying to splice the difference between ignore and deal with sounds redundant.

I know the steering wheel on the '11 I drove around while my '12 was in PDI was the strangest steering wheel I had ever seen or felt. And the dash was an immense piece of bland plastic. I am not that style conscious and I didn't even opt for the 2SS, but the '11 wheel would have been a deal breaker, and the dash was pain ugly to me w/o the overlay. Plus the damn door locks aren't on the sts lol. Wtf.

I think when people say "too much plastic", they refer to the texture of the plastic, where the "big three" don't really make a conscious effort to make the plastic blend with the interior of the car, as opposed to just "placing" it there. I know Chrysler is horrible in doing that, as they used the same plastics and dash design for the older 300, Magnum, and Charger.

i like to think of it this way. If everyone was the same and every car was the same then there would be no need to have a camaro let alone all the other vehicles out there. I love my camaro even with its flaws, but what car doesn't have flaws?

I can haz Cruze steering wheel? Just plan weird, I feel you there. Out of place maybe? Overall opinion must have been that the old one was bogus I guess.... else why replace it for '12+?

It was the the fact it was thin and had those weired spots for fingers I guess? Fine if you have a quicker rack than 16:1, but weird if you do a lot of shuffle or hand over hand. I have never seen a cruze, but the wheel feels the same at any spot which is way better. Plus a round center section that doesn't rotate on its center its just plain strange to watch.

EDIT: the new wheel does have spots for fingers on the inside which feels natural, but on the back it was just too strange.
