Ok, I've seen colors....I've seen wheels...

Lets do this. We all know how the sold allocation was determined. Should it be adjusted to reward dealers who have been an asset to the 5th Gen Camaro community?

Should I, CAMARO SCOTTY and his dealership, or Lynn Chevrolet, or any other long time supporting dealership be awarded discretionary allocation as a reward for their support of this forum?

What do YOU think?

Scotty, I think you have been very helpful on this website. Not only are you a salesman, but you are probably one of the most educated salesman when it comes to the camaro. If you were closer, I would buy my car off of you. You should get rewarded, but with GM like it is now I probably wouldn't expect it.

Respectfully submitted.....but I do not think you should get additional vehicles just because you participate in an internet forum.

NOW....there might be another way to justify additional allotment...or discretionary allotment. If you were #1 in vehicle sales in your market for particular models, your customer feedback ratings were supremely high, level of training, dealership owner doing something for GM, etc.....

hey scott, I lean more towards yes, you getting more allotment. Its got more to do with your amazing track record of sales, and if you tried you could single handedly sell the remaining camaros if they were given to your dealership. My only concern would be, what amount of allotment....and would this allotment take away from other dealerships. If it does take away from other dealerships, then I have to lean more no, cause I dont want to wait any longer for my camaro. If it doesnt, and its just unsold vehicles, they yes......small details, but important details.

One way or the other, since I know your going to read this....thank you for your work you have done.

If you live in my neck of the woods I would have voted yes but I don't want anyone around here to tell me they can't get any because there is a SUPER Salesman who is getting the next batch of cars and if I wanted one I would have to go all the way up there and see some guy named Scott.

How could you ever come up with a system to ensure it was fair?

I love the Camaro, and have sold more than half of my dealerships Camaro orders.

Do I deserve more Camaro allocations?

It seems as though everyone across the country has sold most of their allocations, I say we ALL deserve more allocations not just a select few.

I voted no since I don't know if you would be the only one receiving additional allocations?

I know you wouldn't know that either but seems a fair system to place all dealers who have sold orders in a pot would seem reasonable to me.

Then again...weren't the allocations based on past sales, the sale of Corvettes and the registration of Mustangs in the area? Based off of that, then each dealer should have their total needed for the ramp up to 2010?

Either way, hate to say no to you as I've enjoyed your posts and your insight but without having a system in place to reward all dealers across America, doesn't seem fair to increase your allocations just because you have met your #s.

GM based allocations on the dealer's retail sales and new Mustang registrations in the dealer's area for the twelve month period ending Aug.'08. The intent of that is obvious, it seems fair to the dealers, plus you have to put the cars where the competition is. It might be one of the few things they've done right in this whole haze shrouded presale affair.
So I say stick with the original plan. And you'll still make more $ through the additional sales your extra effort provides, regardless of model. This poll alone shows just how resourceful you are, and you appear to be the straight talking type of salesman anyone would like to buy a car from!
Besides, Scotty, what influence do you think this poll could possibly have on the powers that be at GM?

Yes you earned it....like pounding the pavement or using phones. Being able to capitalize and get those further allocations might not happen for now. GM has all but stopped advertising.....the internet is a excellent tool and you do a good job of using it.

Your Company, Chevy and GM are watching.........

Scotty, I appreciate all your support for this site and for being educated about the car. However, I am not sure that is sufficient reason to justify you getting a bigger allocation. I think the people who pre-ordered should get their cars first. Period. Then, perhaps dividing the production runs based on the number of pre-orders might be a better way. That would reward those dealers who worked with enthusiasts and who also sold the cars for MSRP or less (because of this site).

Should they be allocated at all? Should a dealer be able to sell all they can? It seems logical that any dealer that sells Camaros should be able to order as many as they want to.

It just isn't that simple. This would be good for the consumer but probably not good for the dealers as the margins would go down for all the dealers and competition would get fierce. GM does not want to upset the supply chain.

I would reward a dealer for supporting ME with my purchase. If for any reason the local dealer I have selected dissapoints me, I would hit the 'net and reward the dealer that is willing to help ME by handing them the $$$ they will recieve for handling my drop ship. No small amount of money here.

Scotty, you are on the short list if I need any help! Thanks for your support.

-Mark.

Because you guys are dealers that are clearly involved in the community and promoting GM products, I would add to allocation if I were authorized. I know that this doesn't help dealers in my area, but I appreciate dealer involvement because it helps correct misconceptions about the ordering process. I wish that one of my local dealers signed onto Camaro5.

No, play by the rules. Period. GM already has a system in place to reward dealers with allocation.

Supporting this forum doesn't figure in. Now is not the time to hold our hands out to GM.....

<HE + double hockey sticks> Yes!!! If a sales person/dealership is showing initiative on learning more about the product (Camaro) they should be rewarded. And the way to measure this is by having the sales/dealership take a proficiency test. The higher the test score the more they are allotted. take the average of all the sales people to get the average score for the dealership and allow them the cars that they need to grow. If a dealership is small or has had so, so sales in the past they should not be punished or restrained to a small number if they show excitement. I Bet the dealerships that show excitement and the initiative to learn more about the Camaro would do better in sales than a big dealership that thinks this car is just another car they can sell to the public.
IF GM wants to turn around and start giving good service and good products, this is one way to do it.
