Has anyone tried just the replacement K&N replacement filter? I have used them in my other cars and they work ok. I just wondered if anyone did a test on just the filter or has used one. I would like to know what kind of horsepower if any did it make over a full CAI, might be something to look into. It would be a lot cheaper for sure and if only a few HP it might pay to go that way instead of $400 vs $50.00 Just wondered why nobody did just a test on this plain filter with the stock GM filter box.

I have the CAI from K&N and it is def worth it.
However my boss has a '10 2SS/RS and just changed the filter out with a K&N one. He told me it improved very slightly (mostly unnoticable) but it does improve airflow as the K&N permits more air flow than stock. If its performance u want, then go with a CAI. if its just to make your car more efficient, then a new filter will do fine. |

I know I have the V6, but I would have to agree with Sgt H. if you want the performance go with the K&N CAI. I changed out the stock mufflers with Flowmasters noticed a little difference, but when I added the K&N, I really noticed a difference.
