I want the new Camaro will lay waste to new EVO and STi
At least in the quarter mile.
The new Mitsu Lancer Evo and Subaru WRX STi are expected to do the quarter mile in 12.5 seconds stock. No real data yet, but damn it I want my Camaro to smoke these cars no problem. Here is the link to the article http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=5211 I think if weight is kept under control, a 430 hp Camaro should do it for us. I just really don't like the Evo or STi. I need my Camaro now!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stand waiting any longer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Quite possible. I run 12.88 and have no major mods in the 335hp LS1. Could it run mid 12's? Probably so. Now...to get it into the 11's...

Exactly. My current best is a 13.31 on bald tires with just an intake in my non-ram air TA. If the new Camaro doesn't run at least a mid 12, I'm going to be quite disappointed. A live axle sure would help with both price and 1/4 mile times. This IRS crap better be damn good.

Now that I've thought about it some, the current STi and Evo run in the low 13s if they can pull one of thier good 5000 rpm AWD launches.
Neither car has a big bump in horsepower. They both get about an additional 20hp and 20ft-lbs torque. I don't think that will be enough to shave more than half a second off their current times. I'm going to guess they will be in the 12.7-12.8 quartermile area. |

Plus you have to have a competent driver. Many guys I've seen with Evos and STis can barely get a high 13 due to the fact that they aren't the most proficient driver on the track. On a side note, the new WRX/STi looks hideous.

I know when i go down the track there are alot of these guys with these awd cars with so much money poured into them and they dont know what to do with them at that point. they cant drive them that well down the track and so they turn them into around town cruisers [B]trying[B] to impress people. and i agree with with AFSN the new WRX looks horrible, i dont know who came up with that design. The new lancer i havent decided on it yet, it looks good i suppose but a little futuristic.

Yeah, the new STi pretty much looks like poo. I do, however, like the new EVO.
I'd much rather have a Camaro then either, though.

I've ran across an STI twice. Once was at a stop light. I got my ass handed to me on that one. REALLY bad. The other time was on the highway. I went to 145mph and I wouldn't let up, I barely nosed ahead of him.
The STI and the EVO are the only tuners I see and respect. I'll still try it everytime though.

I'm talking about the 2008 WRX. That thing looks like hot garbage. I actually like the '06-'07 models. The wife was looking at getting an STi before she bought her Mustang. I don't have a problem with tuners. There are a few running around Hampton Roads that can hand just about anything their ass, including bikes. It's the idiot drivers that give them a bad name. It isn't limited to tuner cars either. I've seen my fair share of retards driving Mustangs, and even(gasp!) an F-body or two.

Haters.....
I own a 05 STi and yes.... the 1/4 times are garbage. A completely stock sti runs around mid 13's but a turboback exhaust and cobb v2 tuner stage 2 will take it down to low 12's and will have launch controls. BTW GM fan by heart..... gots to love the sexyness of a good old classic. |

Oh and every car group... tuner/domestic's will have their bad apples in the group. I had a older guy in a vette try running me off the road because I wouldnt race him on the public streets..... theres more to life then trying to prove you have a faster car.
I did several years in the army infantry and know Iam not invisiable (sp?) and I couldnt live with myself if someone was killed for my asshattery..... Race on the track, not on the public roads. |

Anyways to get a evo in the 11's is only about $1400 and a good driver. STi's need alittle more but we just had a stock turbo'ed 07 STi hit 11.7 in the 1/4 about 3 months ago. So it is posible. I couldnt do it.... on my stage 2 STi but I suck at drags, my car is built for turning.
