GM exhaust

Who has it for their V6? Do you like it or would you recommend getting another exhaust? Also one last question.. I am getting Ground Effects soon.. Should I wait and get the exhaust after I get the Ground Effects package? I hear there are two different types of exhaust based on if you have Ground Effects or not.

all i know for sure is the GM exhaust is made by Borla and isn't that much better than stock. as for the tips some tips fit the GFX and some don't. hopefully someone else can help you there.

Just don't be like me! I bought my exhaust in February when I had about 800 miles on it I swapped out my exhaust purchased the exhaust for without the ground effects kit. My mechanic was advising me not to install my rear diffuser on the ground effects kit because my exhaust tips were to big. Will cause major rattling. I told them go ahead. Well no rattling then about 3,000 miles later. Rattling going on. I took it back in fixed the exhaust and now 3,000 miles later the rattling is stronger then ever:( Personally, I give up on the noise it's not doing any damage to my car yet when it starts then I will worry about it.

Some people like it some people don't, it all depends on what kind of sound you like.

There's a vid of 67 GTO's GMPP exhaust.

The exhaust itself isn't different, just the tips are different.

I recently got the GMPP Exhaust installed and resonators removed and install straight pipes... the sound is more of a deep corsa sounding exhaust... I previous had the LS3 cans on there which to me was louder that my current setup. If you are looking for an exhaust on a budget i would just go with LS3 cans, replace the tips with larger tips, remove the resonators/replace with straight pipes and replace H pipe/replace with magnaflow X-Pipe.... Inexpensive and sounds bad azz

Is that really true? Seems like a colossal ripoff for tips..

Check out the Exhaust sticky. I just very recently added another new video of the GM performance V6 exhaust. My opinion..its not bad. Mostly just a lower tone and a tad smoother than stock, but not loud and still seems to have some rasp issues or something goin on. Of course, I only have the videos to go on.

I'd be curious to hear your exhaust.

I had the GMPP Exhaust System (With Tips) installed back in Aug 2008. I have Loved it ever since, I Just wish that GMPP would come out with the Air Intake Kit that should have been released way back and also Shortie Headers for the V-6's. I want to have and stay with GM parts on my Camaro, except I am tired of waiting for my Air Intake System (which I paid for back in Aug 08) to be released. The last rumer I heard was that it was still causing Cels and other lights to light up on the dash. If it does not come out by the first of the year, I am going to ask for my money back and get a Roto-Fab CAI and DT Shortie Headers.

Lol if that's the case, I'm not sure I'd wanna put something on my car that has taken GM this long to get a working model of. Everybody else got this done ages ago, and GM has had more access to this motor than anybody.

If you are looking for performance and sound go for Magna Flow Cat back, if you are looking for good looking exhaust consider Corsa, if you want your Camaro to sound like a truck go for MRT.

If you want to waste your money go for GM !

I have a Volant CAI and the Corsa system on mine and am totally satisfied. I had MRT V2 and didn't care for it. I wouldn't say it sounds like a truck but I couldn't take the resonance....and yes, that is a subjective thing...some love 'em and some hate 'em. The Corsa is very high quality but expensive. It is a total cat-back and installs easily. Very quiet rumble and no resonance at any speed. They wail at WOT but not as loud as some others.

As for CAI's...I like the Volant because it is enclosed and isolated from under-hood heat. It looks like it belongd there and the enclosure detailing follows the theme of the engine cover. I have had Volant before and benn pleased so I went that toute again. I have the dry "Power Flow" filter that is made by Donaldson "Blackwing" and like it very much.

As for performance....there is so little difference in any of these systems that, for me at least, it came down to sound and appearance. Most of the CAI's are within 2-3 hp of each other but the gains are in different rpm ranges.

Bottom lone is...get the ones that suit you....look around for a Camaro5 event in your area and go hear and see them live.
