Camaro Blackout: Vinyl or Magnet?

I've gotten the vinyl one before and it didnt come out good (air bubbles) so I took it off, I've seen the magnetic ones and they look good...have any of you magnetic blackout buyers had any problems with it?

Or got to FLXPaint.com and take a look at their product. This stuff is awesome and gives you a painted/clear coated surface that you can wash and wax like the rest of your car. More expensive though, because you would have to get one of their standard sized sheets and cut it to fit. I am sure you would like the results. All of the white and candy orange on my car are the FLXPaint wrap.

If you got bubbles, you didn't apply it correctly. The vinyl should be applied wet and then you squeegee out the bubbles.

Vinyl...cheap, simple and reversible. Just try again. You will get it right the second time.

I tried a magnetic type on my non-Camaro. There would still be moisture between the magnet and the paint a full week after a wash or rain shower. I didn't like the thought of that so I'd remove it on wash day or rainy days and put it back on when the weather was nice again. It didn't take too long before removing and reapplying it (wax the paint first according to directions) made it start cracking at the edges. Vinyl gets rid of all that hassle and I don't have to go without for weeks at a time during rainy season.

Doing it with water and a squeegee is the way to go. It's just like applying tint. A local custom shop or window tinter should be able to do it.

Vinyl works ok for me

The vinyl has been on for over a year. they recommend

waxing under it once in a while

I've had the magnetic type for a few months now (didn't really have confidence in my skills with the vinyl) and it does collect some moisture but since I wash the car once or twice a month I just take it off when its washed and then put it back on when it dries. Not a huge deal, looks great.

I got the magnetic one cuz I wasn't sure if I would like the look or not. Also eventually down the road I will be changing the stock rallys with something that might not go well with the blackout. Flexibility ... to sum it up in a word.

Having it for a month or so now, no problems, looks great and so easy. Just take it off when washing and slap back on when dry. Maybe if you left it on for years I can see some paint issues but otherwise, no big deal.
