Getting Resistance in 1st and 2nd gear M6 V8

I tried searching for this but i'm not sure what to search for..... My car has about 23,000 miles on it, have had no problems. I drove about 300 miles today, mostly interstate miles in 6th gear, but when i downshifted to slow down at a stoplight the car wouldnt go in 2nd. I came to a stop at the light and it wouldn't go in 1st or 2nd, all the other gears worked fine.

I finally forced it into 1st gear, it felt like i was pushing the shifter through thick glue or something.... like really resistive, with no noise or grinding etc. The car took off normal, and same feeling when trying to shift to 2nd... after that, all was good. This is the first time ive ever had any issue with the car or trans. I drove it approximately 25 more miles and i got the same resistance again downshifting when i got to 2nd, however it went into 1st gear no problem...

Any suggestions or anybody else had this same issue?

Something similar happened in my old Z24, if I remember correctly (only about 15 yrs ago so bear with me ). It was a loose gear fork pin (I think that's what it was called). Take it to the dealership right away.

Check your brake fluid reservoir, which doubles as the clutch fluid res. If it's black and has some scum floating on top, suck it out and replace with new DOT 4 brake fluid. You may also want to bleed the old fluid out and replace with new! If the fluid is black that may be causing the clutch throw out to stick.

Only 1st & 2nd? It would be all gears IMO.

I think the tranny is bad. The synchro sleeve seems to be dragging on something.

Take it in to the dealer and pray you can duplicate the issue for the sevice tech.

i have a similar issue. when cold out and stopped at a stop sign. i try to shift from neutral to 1st and get resistance. all other gears are smooth at this point. after a couple attempts it goes in but its annoying. only does when cold. after 20 minutes of driving its fine.

ps. i allow the engine to warm for a few minutes prior to driving.

Go to post 13 of this thread and click on "soft or low clutch pedal, hard to shift transmission".

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92333

I had my trans dropped due to this same issue. It's much better now, but I wouldn't say perfect. Seemed to only happen when cold.

Thats been the only time its ever done it... that was in the middle of the trip, so the trans was at normal temp, and it hasn't done anything close to it since. I don't drive it everyday, just weekends... so duplicating it for a dealer would be almost impossible at this point. I'm gonna check the fluid and see what it looks like and then go from there.
