Do cutouts cause power loss?

Do QTP or noweeds or anything like that cutout wise cause any kind of power loss because of backpressure loss?

What if you put the "cutout" right in front of the rear muffler?

Make sure you post a thread in the correct area and second I don't believe there's any power loss.

The topic would be consider "Powertrain Technical" there's a spot for exhaust and bolt on mods.

for both issues, can you put the cut-out right before the muffler?

& where the heck else should the OP have asked this question?

I stand corrected. This thread was moved by a mod so I was right but it is now in the right area.

Right after the manifold , yes loss of power
Before the mufflers, doubt it but why do you want it just loud and annoying or?

no I want a great sound so i'm almost not even considering cut-outs now.
Stainless Works, Solo MachX, or SLP is on my mind

Put the cutouts just after the crossover and you'll be just fine. if you put them really close to the manifold/header collector you can disrupt the flow enough that you just might lose a bit of power, but downstream a little further and you won't affect anything negatively. Also by putting it after the crossover you're making sure you keep the pressures even.

Typically a cat-back system doesn't net you any power, it just changes the sound, so putting it after the crossover and before the mufflers would just be like doing a muffler delete, which many folks have done successfully.

realistically the power difference would not likely be noticible if you put it right after the cats before the crossover anyway, so that's a perfectly viable option. But if it were me, they'd go right after the x-pipe.
