95 Cobra
I don't know much of anything about mustangs...but a guy at work the other day was telling me he has 'an old ford' that would kick my ass. After a few days of shit talking to other people I find out it's a '95 Cobra with a 5.7L that has been sitting in a barn for 11 years clear on the other side of the state....but yet gets started and drove about once a month. I haven't said a whole lot to him about it yet because I don't know anything about said car. I do know, however, that I would beat him in a race even if he was driving a ZR1.
So basically I guess I'm just looking for legit info in regards to the performance of a '95 cobra against an LS3 |

Well, if it has a 5.7 in it it is not stock. The 95 Cobra came with the last gen of the old 5.0. One of the main differences that year was it had the GT40 head and intake over the GT's. I think the were good for around 240hp in stock trim were as the GT's were 225hp.

If it is anywhere near stock, that is one SLOW car. Be sure to pull 2 spark plug wires to make it interesting.

The only non-5.0l in 1995 was the Cobra R with a 5.8l 351w. . . That one would give you a run. 300hp/365 ft lbs and pretty damned light. Only 250 were made though and they were ONLY made in white. If that's what he has and it's not stock, I would be weary. The 351w can be a beast.

If what you were told is true....It could be a 95' Cobra R. They came with 351 windsors. Stripped down race car. 3326 lbs.

In April of 2000, C&D tested a 2000 Cobra R.
In that article, they also gave the performance stats for a 1995 Cobra R they tested: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...ra_r-road_test 1995 Cobra R: 300-hp, 5.8-liter top speed 151 mph quarter-mile 14.0 seconds at 99 mph .89 g skidpad 70-to-0-mph braking 165 feet 2001 Cobra R: 385-hp, 5.4-liter top speed 175 mph quarter-mile 13.2 seconds at 110 mph 1.02 g skidpad 70-to-0-mph braking 160 feet So, you'll eat any stock 95 R without even breaking a sweat ...

looks like he has a 351 (5.8)in it. which could mean displacement could potentially be all the way to 427ci+ ...i dont know why you guys are trying to quote stock magazine times on a 15year old car but thats an easy way to get burned!!
it could also be a 347 stroker in which case probably has the other mods done to it so expect somewhere around 400-450hp n/a if thats the case although obviously theres people out there that make way more than that |

Even if it is an "R" the LS3 shouldn't have a problem.

you guys are seriously underestimating what is probably one of the most moddable/mod-friendly cars ever. Theres no way to know definately whos gonna win if the extent of the mods to the other car is not known.

Which ones were the ones that featured independent rear suspension? I'm thinking the '99 cobras may have. I also recall seeing a new, red cobra R with a tall rear spoiler in the Ford showroom for around $100k in '99.
