2011 6-speed clutch newbie questions
I just bought a SS/RS 2011 Camaro in Nov. and was wondering:
1. if there is a way to set engage speed or disable the automatic shift guide from 1st to 4th? 2. I noticed a slight burning smell if I just slightly slip the clutch when backing out of my driveway. Is this normal? 3. Is the clutch itself a "dry clutch" separate from the transmission fluid? Haven't owned a sports car in 10 years so I'm a bit of a newbie. Thanks, Mark http://markrowsoft.com |

2. These clutches seem to be 'touchy' with slipping, theyll stink up for what seems like almost no slip at all. My Camaro stunk pretty bad at first too, either I got better with shifting and using the clutch or it 'broke in', can't really say which. 3. Yes, the clutch is dry, the tranny fluid is completely contained within the tranny itself. |

make sure you check your hydraulic fluid and change it when you start seeing little black specs or flakes or if the fluid is getting dark. I would switch to a dot 4. syn

Thanks.
I found a skip shift eliminator for about $20 online. On an unrelated note, would you happen to know if there is a way to disable the turn-by-turn nav voice (only graphical in dash)? If you adjust the volume, it will just normalize back on the next turn. |

I took a look at the thread. I did have some issues getting used to the stiff clutch and getting the timing right but with some practice I got it right with no problems. Only just annoying when the skip shift is activated when you aren't really going fast enough to warrant it. It won't even let you skip to 3rd instead of 4th. I have definitely driven sport cars that shift smoother, easier.
If I drive lead foot style, I don't have any problems with the skip shift at all. If I do that I get about 17mi a gallon though. |
