I saw a 2010 mustang on the road today. It pulled up behind me, I was like "what a horrible looking paint job on that mustang, then when it pulled up aside me I realized it was the 2010 in an IVER paint scheme (looked like a cow). But I thought it was a regular mustang until I really looked at it closely. I only know that it's a 2010 because I've seen half a dozen at auto shows while seeing the Camaro. That tells me that when these 2010's hit the road, your average person probably isn't going to notice the 2010's...

... the Camaro on the other

Absolutely agree. I think the Mustang styling "update" illustrates a problem with retro styling. Where do you go from there? It'll be interesting to see how Chevrolet handles this when it comes time to freshen up the Camaro. Do they go from first generation styling cues to second generation styling cues -- or what? How do you move "retro" forward without loosing that theme, or do you abandon it at some point and return to contemporary design?
