It's been a long journey....

This car has been a long journey for a lot of us. Many have preordered it long before it was delivered. Some like me never thought it would be possible till the stars aligned in just the right way. We all agonize over the decisions. What color? Stripes? Maybe have them painted? V6? V8? Auto or Stick? RS or not? We all saw the concepts and drooled over them. We watched as people first got to see them and get ride alongs with Scott and others. We cheered as the first cars were delivered showing hope that ours would come soon. We proved to the disbelievers that the Camaro was not an apparition and would survive the GM bankruptcy. We were there through good times and bad. The convertible was on the convertible was off it's back on again. The Z28 is coming. No it's not. Now when asked certain people just grin and a twinkle in their eye tells you it is. I remember the catastrophes with a bad batch of output shafts (still have yet to test my launch control), and PQ and other's L99 Slowmaros due to cheap dealers putting 87 octane in and when they finally found the fix. I love coming to this site on a daily basis to see what you all have done with your cars and listening to your exhausts to help me decide on my own ( Corsa ) I can't wait to see the convertibles and here your stories of ordering and getting them. I can't wait to see what the Z28 will turn out to be. Most of all I am thankful to share these events with such a great group of people. It was great meeting some of you in Providence this year when Scott and Dave Hamburger came to town. Their passion for the Camaro along with our own is the reason why it's such a success. I'm in love with my car. It's strange but to me it's more than a car. It's like a friend. Some of you know what I mean. Others may not understand. I love the way I feel when I drive it. I love the attention it gets, and although that will fade over time (and I'm surprised it hasn't) I know my love of it won't. This marks my 1000th post. It's been a lot of fun and I look forward to the future. To those who haven't received their car. It's worth the wait. To Scott and the others at GM and all the hard workers in Oshawa. I can't thank you enough. You made my dreams come true and they were everything I could have hoped for.

It has been a great ride from discovering the new Camaro, to finding this great site to learn all about it. Then there was the great pre order excitment and the start of production. I really enjoyed learning of everyones experience from the first cyber gray going to Tag and the day I asked PQ "where's your car dude?" and he replied something like "it's here at the dealer and I am doing the paperwork now". Before I could sneeze he had sent some pictures of his new Camaro and the 21's going on.

Oh, and how many of us ordered without a sighting or a test drive? That's a commitment and this car did not dissapoint. If you are on the fence about ordering, jump over and do it. If you are waiting for your to be built, the wait no matter how long is worth it. All the great people here are just icing on the cake.

v6sonoma: Well said. Since white was not available to order until last June, I had to wait over a year just to order, after seeing the Camaro concept at Carlisle in 2007.
I got my summit white SS last August. What a ride. Wouldn't change a thing on the car or the experience.
