Question about plastic tape new camaro

Just bought a new camaro and i was taking off some of the clear plastic tapes it had on it such as the little piece of tape covering the metal ball on the seatbelt holder. While looking around it i found a clear plastic tape attached to the car right by where the door closes in between the crease thats between the end of the door and back end of the car. Is this plastic piece of tape supposed to protect something because i looks to be fairly hard to take off and i dont want to damage the paint.

Yes, there is a plastic tape that is near the gills where the door closes and also right behind the front wheels.

It's to protect from rock chips.

I'm sure they could be taken off, but you'd end up with rock chips. I'd recommend leaving them on, unless you're getting a total paint job.

I'm 99.9% sure you have them. Look on the rocker panel behind the front wheel/fender and in front of the rear wheel. They are thick, clear plastic pieces over the paint. I didn't notice them until I clayed and waxed my car.

I noticed the first day I had the car, just left them. Figured it was for rock chips.

I would agree with slick rsick and LoneStarCamaro on this one. These plastic tape like fixtures are to protect the paint from rock chips. I spoke with our Techincal Assistance team and what they told me is that if it doesn't come off easily then it is meant to be there. I hope that helps.

They peel right off (they're stuck on pretty well, but they will come off with no damage to the paint). The guy who installed my Clear Bra removed them and recovered the areas with the Clear Bra. I would NOT take them off on the rockers panels if you're not going to get a Clear Bra.
