Is there a califonia model camaro?

I live in SoCal and have found a car I want in Nevada. According to the DMV if you buy a car out of state there might be two different door stickers. One says that it passes Ca emissions, the other says it passes Federal emission. If the sticker says Ca then I won't need to pass emissions when I bring it in, if it says Fed I will. Then the DMV said there are some cars that only have model and all hold to Ca emissions. Is the Camaro that way?

Is there a specific place the sticker you're looking for is supposed to be? If so, I'll look at mine and tell you what it says. I looked at the stickers I saw on the door frame of the driver's side door, and all I had was a tire loading information sticker and some safety information sticker saying it meets the safety regulations or something. I didn't see anything about emissions.

For what it's worth, I looked through my car's paperwork to see if it mentioned anything about California emissions, and I didn't see anything that specified California. Although, on my build sheet is DOES have an RPO code listed as "FE9 - 50-State Emissions." To my knowledge, California is one of the 50 states, so it should be covered. I mean, from what I can tell, 99% of California's laws are stupid and asinine (one of the many reasons I could never live there) so I don't know if "50 State Emissions" meets whatever b.s. sticker requirement they would expect you to have. I'm no expert on the matter, of course, but I don't think many cars are produced these days that aren't California emissions legal.

If you buy a used car, though, all bets are off, because you never know what the previous owner might have done to screw up the emissions. There are people who are running with headers and no cats and no mufflers, and I can just about guarantee that those won't pass California's requirements.

Anyway, if it was me and I lived in California and bought a car and it said it met 50-State Emissions, and my state started giving me crap because it didn't specifically state "California Emisisons" I would absolutely lose my shit. 50 states means 50 states, of which California is one. I'd better stop before I go too much further, most people around here seem to want to keep things non-political and I could oh-so-easily go off into a rant about stupid liberal politics and laws out in California.

I guess none of this really answered your question, so sorry about that. But I did find the RPO code listed for my 2SS/RS saying it meets 50-state emissions, for whatever that's worth. If you can tell me what sort of sticker you're looking for on the car, and where the emissions sticker is supposed to be, I'll let you know what mine says.

I hope putting this up doesn't create any competition for the car.

Actually, I can't FIND an emissions sticker on my car...

But I did have my dealer print out the build sheet with all of the RPO codes, and I have the RPO code that says "50-State Emissions." I can't understand why I can't locate an emissions sticker on the vehicle, though. I'm the original owner, bought the car brand-new. No sticker that I can find, and no sticker residue anywhere like someone peeled it off.

By the way, I noticed in your picture you blanked out your VIN. I just wanted to let you know that the square type barcode thing on the sticker is also your VIN. A lot of people these days (me included) have barcode scanners on our phones, and I can tell you what your VIN is, if you'd like. I scanned it, to see what would come up, and it is your VIN. Out of respect for your privacy, I won't post it here (since you blanked it out) but I wanted to let you know that you might want to blank out the square barcode thing as well, if that's your intention. Just letting you know, if you post pictures, and you're touchy about your VIN or anything like that, blank out any and all barcodes that are visible in the picture if they're close up enough to scan. Just playing around one day scanning barcodes on my car, I think quite a few of them had my VIN. Word to the wise, I guess.

WhiteTiger777, I would check with your DMV. I bought an SSR from Minnapolis 2005 and it had 50 state emissions. It was fine in California when I got it smog tested.

Good Luck

On my 2010, the emissions sticker is located on the underside of the hood towards the drivers side (silver/black sticker).

Just found it right before you posted this. I was taking a picture to post in the thread.

I think you're problem is solved, Whitetiger. My sticker says:

Conforms to regulations: 2011
U.S. EPA class / stds: LDV / TIER2
California class / stds: PC / ULEV qualified

The sticker is located a little bit above the driver's side hood hinge, on the underside of the hood. If you're concerned about the particular car you're looking to buy, have the owner check under his hood and make sure the sticker says that. I guess that's all California needs, I don't really know.

Hope this helps. And yes, I realize that the barcode up there is the last half of my VIN, but I'm not too touchy about who knows my VIN, either.
