NOSTALGIA THREAD

#2 in the Websters dictionary, " a wistful yearning for something past or irrerecoverable"

I'm feeling that way today and wanted to send a shout out to camaro5, GM, and include everyone who cares about the new camaro. My heartfelt thank-you for this heritage based, world class automobile and for all the information passed on this site. Just a month and a half to production and eveyone is so antsy now their on edge. Relax and enjoy life each day one at a time and I thank the good Lord that the new camaro was not "irrerecoverable".

"baseball, hotdogs, apple pie, and chevrolet" That was a commercial nostalgic song played back in the 70's.

Anybody remember and good Chevrolet slogans or songs or just their comments would be appreciated.

I think I recall an old commercial (possibly radio) that used to be sung something like "Take a ride today in a Chevrolet". Argh ... my memory is fading cause I know there's a bunch more.

That's the one that came to my mind. It was "See the USA in your Chevrolet", sung by Dinah Shore from 1952 well into the 60's. I can definitely hear, as you probably can, the melody like it was yesterday that I last heard it, but it was more like, what, 40+ years ago. I guess that proves it was a good one!

Ahhh, thank you. I couldn't remember the age I was at the time but you are absolutely correct. I recall the melody too.

40+ years ago wouldn't surprise me either.

My new favorite thread.

And I'm still a huge fan of, "The heartbeat of America, That's today's Chevrolet."

I wish they'd bring that one back.

^^^Ooh, Heartbeat of America, that's a good one too. And I must admit I got some help from Google on the "See the U.S.A."

The one show I remember as always having Chevy as a sponsor was Bonanza. Remember Ben, Hoss, Little Joe and Adam?

this was from the 40s, Eye it, try it, buy it, from the 40s
I personally like the Heartbeat of America and See the USA one that you put up
There is also "Like a Rock" and "When Good is not Enough"

I actually heard Bob Seger sing that song on the radio today about a half hour before I wrote the thread.
Long live Chevrolet.....

Thought I'd post a few of the first gen. Camaro print ads that I liked. Chevy has had some great ads over the years, both in print and on television, as well as some good songs. I hope we will see some memorable ads for the fifth gen. Camaro.

It would be wise to bring that back before March, at least for the sake of reviving a classic car with a classic slogan. It might be nice to have that back for new hearings with Congress, too.
