Switch from 2LT to 2SS - burning money?

Hi folks,

lessons learnt, I bought my first Camaro ever last year: 2LT RS white convertible, automatic, with blue leather interior, NPP exhaust!
It has a little less than 7.000 miles on it. No accident, no dings and dongs.. taken care of her like of my girlfriend.

For some reason (power, stick shift, limited slip diff.), I want to go 2SS RS convertible.

How can I manage this without taking a too big hit money wise... ???

I already figured, the best way is to trade at a dealership against an USED 2014 2SS RS. So I don't have to take the hit on buying a new car again.

With how much could I get away realistically doing such a deal (trade) at a dealers place?

(Best case: I could get $28.000 for mine and get a 2014 2SS RS vertible, m6 with less than 15.000 miles for ~ $33.000.. realistic?)

The "best" scenario is to sell the car privately. Very seldom, if ever, is a dealer going to offer what you can get privately as they need room to make a profit when they sell it. You can confirm this using kbb (or any other pricing site). The private price is always higher.

Aside from that, it will boil down to what cars are available.

Thought about this, too. Selling it privately should keep the loss somewhat little.

But renting a car after the 2LT is sold to bridge e.g. 8 weeks of time until finding the right 2SS RS vert, m6 with NPP etc. is taking some money into the equation, too.

I guess I got to keep contacting dealers until finding one that does not try to rip me entirely off. Then I'll do the deal there.

Life is short. Enjoy it.

I ordered the exact car you want from the factory last year. Save two grand for power mods (LT headers and HF cats, CAI, PTB) and you will be thrilled every time you think about her let alone drive her. Here's a little something to wet your appetite even further.

Nice car!!!

That's the equation as per now:

2LT RS A6 Vert + X = 2SS RS M6 Vert

Whereas X is defined as follows:

a) Delta $ between 2LT vert and 2SS vert (~5000$)
b) Delta $ of actual value of my 2LT vert and dealer offer (~2000$, estimated dealer offer for my 2014 2LT RS vert = 26.000 $)
c) Delta $ of actual value of a used 2SS vert and a good dealer offer (1000 $, 'cause I want a pre owned certified one with warranty and stuff..., estimated dealer offer on a 2SS RS vert M6 NPP: 34.000 $)
d) Michigan tax for new used 2SS vert (~34.000$ * 6% = 2040$)

Going from a 2014 2LT RS A6 Vert ...to... a 2014 2SS RS M6 Vert takes ~10.040 $.

The thing that attracts me most on the 2SS RS is the power and the presence of a limited slip differential on the rear axle.

But the price hurts...

Thanks. They aren't cheap. Mine stickered for $47,770. My trade was valued at $14.1. i ended up paying $31,500+tax difference. But I will keep this car for the rest of my life so I'm satisfied with what I paid.

FINALLY ! someone with indy stripes. it's like pulling teeth around here just to get a pic. maybe turn the pic ? or even better an azz shot?

probably asking too much since just getting an actual indy stripes pic is pretty amazing.

Thanks. ( never seen them on the V8 before )

If the Gen6 looks attractive, you can expect a fire sale on existing Gen5 stock sometime late this year (to literally make room for the Gen6). I wouldn't entertain any moves until then. Your trade-in won't suffer enough between now and then to factor, but the incentives are likely going to be big. Worse case - you get to drive what you have.

Believe me, I researched wheels for a long time. I learned a few things...

First, I went into it thinking five spoke as THE classic wheel. But the more I looked at other Camaros and samples on TR's excellent wheel selector, I decided that it wasn't enough spoke for 20s.

The OE wheels with the RS package are "Midnight Silver" and I don't think they do much for my color scheme. I looked at black carefully and decided the wheel, tire and wheel well all black was too much black. I considered chrome....no. So, as I looked around, it seemed people were getting wilder and wilder with wheel color and design. The clincher was seeing a Vette with white wheel. When the car took off, the wheels spun into a solid white color and looked great, so I finally decided to take a flyer on the white Motegis. I am happy with the end result other than they are a real PITA to get and keep clean.
