New member, 2010 LS buyer
Hey all,
Just joined the family as of last weekend. Got an LS IBM 6 speed manual with stripes and 21" wheels and 6000 miles. When I was younger I owned an 86 navy blue Camaro with a 6 cyl and a 5 speed. I let a friend borrow it and he rear ended a Camry. Needless to say I won't be doing that again. Debating on whether I should start modding or leave it stock through warranty.

Make it your own. I started modding mine before it had 2k miles. BTW those wheels look like the stock SS 20". Nice car buddy. I have a blue one to.

They could be the 20", but I thought I saw 21 on the Pirelli's themselves. All I know is the salesman tried to talk them up saying they were 4k wheels.

What gains will I get from the GM exhaust, especially if I don't put a CAI or headers on?

From what I have read, not much if anything at all. I read that the stock mufflers are not very restrictive.
So adding the exhaust would just give your car a good, aggressive sound. I was embarrassed to rev my engine while I had the stock cans on.

Zynon, CONGRATS and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.
![]() oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

From what i remember if you go with the GM performance exhaust it is not much of a gain in hp but it will sound different, but it is over priced the best to to go after market you can get a cat back for the price of their axle back.

I just joined today also I have a 2011 Gray RS. Mine has 3,500 miles and I already put full borla exhaust and a K&N intake on mine. Looking into the BBK headers, LED taillights, and billet grilles as we speak. Let the MODS begin make it your own. This site has tons of info on it I read through it for months before joining. I've spent hours on this thing.

Whether that means modding it or not.

You can do a lot with visual mods, or mods like intake and exhaust, that will keep the majority of your warranty intact.
For me, this is the "most car" I've ever owned, so my desire to get even more out of it isn't there yet, but that doesn't mean I haven't done visual or other small things here and there. |
