2011 Indy 500

I have seen for the past two years, Indy has done something with a few members on here with having them come down and pace around the track, I'd love to do this. Does anyone know if they are doing this and how do I dign up?

If they are going to do it this year though, you should be notified by your dealer. I was able to go last year and that is how I was informed. It seems the size of the dealer relates to how many cars they are allowed to bring. My dealer was given only eight slots, yet I remember hearing there was another that brought over fifty cars to last year's event.

It may also depend on how close to Indy you actually are. I'm also on the Northwest side of Indy, but am only a half hour away. I'm not sure from your location description how close you might be.

I also think some dealers are informed of the event and choose not to participate. I remember seeing that there was an event similar to the one they did for the 500 that took place for the Allstate 400, but enough local dealers chose not to go that there were some out of state dealers who were able to bring cars to that one.

I was told it was taking place again this year and I was invited by my dealership. The event is Opening Day at the track, the Camaro/Corvette Rally the day before the race and the Opening Day of the Brickyard400. Just so happens my dealer owner, Courtney Cox Cole is the president of the Central Indiana Chevrolet Dealers Association and she was the one who brought these events back to the track when Chevy bailed on them, but since came back onboard. I've had two sources tell me they were doing it again and I would be included. As Bluestreak 2010 said, the invites come from your dealership and some participate and some don't. I know there were people or owners who came from Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky to do this but their dealerships called in favors to dealers here to make it happen for their customers. Good luck and see you there....

I just got the invite again this year from my dealer this morning. My dealer is very small and I think they only get to invite 2. Should be a good time again this year!

Yea, I got a verbal from mine about a month ago. I've been busy trying to get my car respectable to make a good showing. Sad when my whip is whipped!

Really looking forward to this and the Camaro/Corvette Rally the day before the race. Last year was really spectacular to see all those cars coming into IMS for that event and taking to the track. Must have been at least 500 vehicles.

OK, guys. Is the big day May 14th? What time would the fun start at the track?

Let us know. I will notify my dealer, for them to get on the ball.

I can confirm it is on May 14, but haven't yet received an itinerary, but as soon as I do I'll post the info. If you want to go, call your dealer. They have a certain number of designated slots and I'm sure if they haven't filled them already, they'll add you. Worth a shot anyway.

Central Indiana Camaro Club has an invitation for its members and needs responses by Monday. See the CICC Camaro Forums' 5th Gen. Discussion, "Wanted All 5th Gens".
