long block

Hey guys,
In preparing to have APF build the $6 million man motor (you know bigger, better, stronger, faster), I have been looking at short/long block options and had a question--

Is a longblock made complete with components from the stock/existing engine?

If not, Are the pieces you have to purchase the same from long block seller to long block seller? If so,

Can anyone list the parts?

Thanks, I have searched, but I am confused

The "longblock" is just the whole motor put back together. Heads, valley cover, intake, cam and valvetrain, pulley system all bolted back on to the shortblock and ready for the coils, injectors, plugs and all the wiring, manifold, etc. You can get a shortblock job done and put everything else stock back on but most take the opportunity to upgrade the cam and valvetrain, maybe the clutch, maybe injectors and fuel pump, maybe a pulley here and there. Some also either have their heads ported or go with aftermarket heads...the more you do after just the shortblock...the more you approach your 6 million motor. CC performance will talk packages an prices with you...he does a lot of N/A builds. If you are already runnning FI consider CC, ETMC, ADM, WC Camaro, VA Speed, or JRE...can't tell you who to go with, they all have good reps...depending on where you live. I'm close enought to go with Jannetty (JRE) so I feel fortunate that I'm able to go to that shop!

If I understand you right, then it seems that the long block plus what I've already got excepting maybe gaskets etc. would complete everything. Is this right?

I agree; I won't let anyone but John touch the car. I am just trying to figure this out. Does anyone know?
