No one wants to wax /polish my car!

I have been looking at buying the full adams kit that comes with the porter cable and its like 500 bucks..not to bad but I figured for now Id go to a few places and see what they would charge to get the swirl marks out of my paint.

Place 1: Chevy dealer, I know the service manager and they do a very good job at details so I stopped in and they wouldnt even touch my car. I guess they had a black one in that they tried to get the swirls out of and they ended up re-painting the car they told me to go to place 2...

Place 2: A professional detail / body shop, They wrote me a estimate for $1000 bucks and 10 hours of labor I just about shit myself lol, the marks are barely visible unless your in the right light and looking for them...but I know they are there so it drives me nuts.

Place 3: same as place 2, WTF will no one touch camaros! Guess adams is the only way to go and doing it myself...

So... do it yourself. It's not that hard. Research Junkman's and Dylan's threads for a day and get to work. A PC will not harm your paint, that's why it's the best machine for an amateur.

I'd go the Adams route - at least Adams is re-useable, and you'll get your moneys worth out of it. Paying someone else will just be a recurring expense. Yes you will probably find Adams to be a recurring expense too once you get hooked - but it's so gratifying to do it yourself, and have the ability to do it at your convenience. I'd rather give my money to Adams staff than a hack detailer who is using crappy products to keep his overhead down.

After doing it once now,$1000 is a deal. Doing it right is labor intensive!

You can definitely appreciate the going rate once you've done. But I enjoy slaving over my shiny ride.

Yeah I don't blame them. It's probably more than 10 hours between washing, clay barring and the whole process, and it's hard work. I would rather do it myself I don't trust some Detailer unless it's one of Adam's Dealers.

Ok dude, really get the Adam's stuff. I was in the same boat as you and I finally pulled the trigger and picked up the basic kit.

It is WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!

If you haven't done so I highly suggest you look at the videos from Adam's, they are easy to follow and you'll love the results.

Adam's Polishes Detailing videos

Check out what it did to my hood.

I'd be shocked if a dealer did a decent job. Its extremely rare to find a dealership with a quality detailer in the back. For the mostpart its a highschool kid with a rag and a bucket. LOL

$1000 for a paint correction is insane, either the guy has no clue or he was trying to pull one over on you. An exterior paint correction on a new Camaro in moderate condition shouldn't run much more than $300 give or take.

Honestly, the DIY route makes so much sense as you can get all the supplies you need to do it right for around the price of what a good detailer will charge you and you'll have enough chemical to detail your car dozens of times, so after the first time its essentially already paid for itself.

$300? I would have happily paid that, 300 around here gets you a decent in & out, but not a correction, I've got over 20hrs so far, and I still have an hr or so of touchup before I lay down the americana, I'm using the PC though, I know pro's like you can be a lot faster with other tools...

Yeah $1000 is not right. I do mine myself but I've had it done before by professionals around me and it has always been $250-300 for a full correction. Check out http://www.autopia.org/forum/forum.php , you should be able to post on there and find someone in your area.

I agree. I start at $1500 and go up for just the exterior alone. Ten hours my azz, I need 2 weeks minimum.
